  1. MJ351, coded "S" of No. 414 "City of Sarnia" Sqn, RCAF, flown by F/L Ken Lawson of King City, Ontario. Aircraft finished as it appeared in March, 1945, national marking type III in all six locations, "Night" spinner. Fighter Recon Unit emblem above fin flash on both sides. This aircraft had teardrop shaped blisters around the camera windows on both sides of the fuselage...which I haven't finished yet :)

  2. 329 (Free French) "Stork" Squadron.
  3. What? Nobody picked up on the Free French easter egg? :D SEAC/PRU finish and markings:
  4. Keeping busy while waiting for the template... Found a font very close to the one (of many) used for stencils on RAF aircraft, so redoing them (by the way, those trestles are to be used for steadying the wing tip, not "studying" it :) ): If using decal sheets as a reference, keep in mind a lot of them get the Material Spec numbers for the paint wrong. The rudder should be marked "308 C" instead of "305 C". 308 is matte aircraft paint, C means nitro cellulose based. The rest of the aircraft is finished in synthetic matte paint, or DTD 517 S. The prop on MH434 is a modern one built to original specs. It has modern markings on it. WW2 markings were like so: Exhaust staining progress... going to put in a couple more layers. Camo patterns finished, both tropical and temperate.
  5. Yes. Would be nice to get the base only and buy the metal KG12 grip for it without having the plastic grip (and associated cost) ending up in the trash ;)
  6. Nice to see some bare metal 1 Sqn Sabres :)
  7. Nice work :) Were the red portions of the nationality markings on SAAF Spits orange instead?
  8. Must be magic, because the template remains invisible :)
  9. I'll be updating the S.31 skin with the new camera ports soon, at least while we wait for the template.
  10. Whoops! Was waiting for an upload confirmation email from ED and never got one, thought Russian new year was the culprit. DL links posted for both PRU schemes in respective threads... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2318009/ Cheers guys!
  11. Thanks everyone, skin available here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2315044/ :)
  12. Yes, the FR Mk.IXc (Fighter Recon) was a standard IXc with a single oblique camera mounted. By comparison, the PR Mk.IXc (Photo Recon) was a IXc with the guns removed to save weight and cameras carried in all three locations (one oblique, and two vertical). Skin above based on Spitfire MK915, which was FR Mk.IXc with 16 Sqn, RAF. Get up with the dawn, fly fly, snap snap, grin grin, nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more, then shoot up a train and home for tea and medals ;) The photo of the 16 Sqn RAF Spits based in France, above, is from one of my reference books, of note is the false texture on the hangar, disguising it as a domestic building.
  13. Good point. Filed away for future use...
  14. Ok, about done. Will probably leave off the walkway edge stripes, very difficult to find photo evidence of them on PRU Spits, at least the lighter coloured ones. Camera window coming along, thanks to some experimentation with the normal map and the spec file: Will upload soon.
  15. Ok, just about done. Ended up putting a lot more detail into this one than originally planned. Played with the Normal Map to get the camera window in the fuselage door to look slightly sunken, as the real ones did: http://www.avrosys.nu/aircraft/Spaning/217s31/217-S31-IMG_3808.jpg No. 16 Sqn, RAF flew low level photo recon missions using the FR Mk.IXc. Added some cordite stains so it looks the FR business :D No serials, but added white code letters so you dress it any way you want. Aircraft had a single code letter aft of the roundel on each side. Aircraft showed evidence of underside invasion stripes having been removed. Playing with the pink to match the correct shade, most digital samples are far too dark (Pepto Bismol). Like this monstrosity: Real deal, France, late summer 1944: A few more tweaks and it should be good to go.
  16. And another bump from me with the Spitfire BORT system in mind, would be nice to have editable characters for both the code letters and all aircraft serial number digits, in both RAF styles: AB-C C-AB as well as AB-C on both sides of aircraft... See this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179508 :)
  17. Camera Ports Wasn't happy with the camera ports on the Swedish Spit so W.I.P... Still not 100% happy but at least it looks like a camera behind the window. Sun on window. Still goofing around with it.
  18. Swedish skin submitted, working on the PRU Pink skin now :)
  19. Awaiting approval... Added camera lenses, at least placeholders for now as I'm not 100% satisfied with them (third pic taken before lenses added). Keep in mind this is basically a painted normal map, no weathering, etc. Will update once we get the full template. Thanks to forum member MickeEinSweden for help spell-checking the stencils :)

    SEA Camo

Thanks guys, yeah, those nose numbers on the USN skin weren't a pain in the butt at all... :wallbash: :)
  21. At the moment the Spitfire DIFF texture uses the same location to map two very different parts of the skin. the gear strut portion of the main wheel well interior is also used for the piano hinge on the bottom of the cockpit side door: This is not a big deal on the default skin as the piano hinge is dark green and the wheel well interior is close to the same colour (interior green but in shadow). It does however become quite noticeable on skins where the fuselage colour and wheel well colour are quite different. The rod inside the piano hinge segments is mapped from a different location and is ok as it is currently. ED, can you please move the piano hinge mapping to a different location on the DIFF texture, maybe take it from inside the wheel well to near the cockpit door so the colour can match the fuselage? Thanks

    SEA Camo

Cockpit has some minor changes, but to save space you could always just use the default cockpit textures and pilot skin. Everything else (drop tanks, pylons, etc) has new spec files to match the paint work :)

    SEA Camo

Now available SEA camo available here: http://www.lockon.ru/en/files/2310496/ US Navy XFJ-2B skin here: http://www.lockon.ru/en/files/2310507/ :)
  24. Should I mention the wing fuel tank filler caps that shouldn't be there on a stock Mk.IX Spitfire?
