  1. Well, that was probably the hardest thing I think I've ever done in a flight sim :) Thanks for the mission. Any tips?
  2. 1.2GB update, took about 6 minutes. Steam. Destroyed three F15C's on landing, one TF51 engine and seriously scared some people with a sling load out of control. Nice.
  3. If it's on Steam, then this is worth a look through this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113587 Common activation things to try on Steam would be: - Restart the Steam client. - Activate directly using the P51_protect.exe found here: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\P-51D\bin ..and use the DCS: P51D Mustang key shown from the 'CD Key' entry against DCS World in your Steam library (the FAQ link above shows an example). Hope that helps.
  4. Hi Siggels, that's likely a licensing issue, in that if the P51 module can't find a properly activated key then it'll show an external view of the next aircraft in a mission. Activation allows you in the cockpit, otherwise not (it's how Multiplayer works for people without all the modules). Check you have activated the P51 module ok etc. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/faq/activate/
  5. Hi - this has been resolved in the latest Steam Client, see here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/558747287345221521/ Thanks to slouken at Valve for taking a look (we chatted as part of the Steam In-Home Streaming beta, which works great for DCS World now btw, getting that Huey on the 60' TV :)). Steam overlay, screenshots, in-game timer etc, fully functional now, as of build Feb 4 2014, package version 1391621914/5 upwards (may require opting in to the Steam client beta, not sure when it'll hit the mainline). EDIT. It's in the public beta for the Steam Client for sure, so added this to the Steam FAQ at those forums and hopefully useful here too: "Where is my Steam Overlay In-game OR Why No Time In-game Recorded? The Steam client has now been fixed for this, and it works great with DCS World. Until Valve releases this feature out of beta, if you want the Overlay then please join the beta program for the Steam Client using the menus 'Steam / Settings / Account / Beta Participation' and choose 'Steam Beta Update'. You can also opt out at any time."
  6. For those wanting to play along and do a 'before and after' the newer mantle drivers, then this demo app is a nice way to see: http://store.steampowered.com/app/267130/ (Edit: Warning, kinda pointless registration process needed, so a heads up for that)
  7. +9000. In that I've answered 9000 questions regarding this on Steam, and won't miss it :)
  8. Steam sales have a system where during the entire sale there is a certain percentage off, i.e. 50%. Then there are 'Flash Sales' (which choose four titles already on sale and discount them further but only lasts 8 hours) and Community Choice sales, where the steam members vote between three existing items for further discount. The DCS Modules were picked as a 'Flash Sale' and were 66% off for 8 hours, and that finished about 11AM PST this morning. The price has returned to 50% off. In theory, the DCS titles might come up in the Community Choice sales too, but the chance is pretty small (i.e. 3000 titles in Steam, and it's meant to be a surprise).
  9. Just got a 12MB update via Steam this morning (in the open beta channel), on starting it reinstalled the VCDIST packages. Version number is 1.2.7.22014 (didn't check what the one yesterday was though), so perhaps just a Steam client thing. Edit: Yep, only files changed/downloaded were the vcredist2012 package from the common valve redist. No worries :)
  10. Thanks c0FF For Steam users I added this bit to the Steam forums: Note: It may be worth backing up your existing control/settings folder that lives here: C:\Users\YourUsername\Saved Games\DCS ..as this beta via Steam will overwrite these. For beta bug reporting it might also be worth clearing the folder out so new settings are used. Does that sound ok, in that I'm worried that people updating their Steam version (via the Steam direct method) will have a 'clean' base for simpler bug reporting?
  11. Thank you, you're an angel Psyrixx - beta coming down via the Steam option at 10 MB/S :)
  12. It shows a download of 12GB, so I guess everything. I only kept the Steam DCS World and all modules around once it went there (faster download :)). Is it worth copying that install across to somewhere else so the files can be found and just the deltas are then downloaded? - that would really help. EDIT: Using the Steam beta, working great now, i.e: > OpenBeta is available on Steam in the openbeta branch. (It's in the Steam menu, in BETA tab). Multiple installs are not possible with Steam, though.
  13. The standalone install files could have been rehosted though. The current mechanism is showing me a 5 day download, on a 250Mbps link, so it's not practical for me to try the beta this way. EDIT: Forget that, using the Steam open beta, and getting 10 MB/s now :) > OpenBeta is available on Steam in the openbeta branch. (It's in the Steam menu, in BETA tab). Multiple installs are not possible with Steam, though.
  14. Cool, my own store :)
  15. Great - thank you. If it's a tech thing then that's ok as this was a nice surprise anyway. Congrats to the team - it looks great.
  16. Apologies, I missed that - I can give it a try. Given that the Steam version doesn't give a key to use will I be ok not activating it, i.e. I just have to download and install and then do the upgrade?
  17. So still no news on the Steam version upgrade? It is not possible to install the 1.0 from Steam, as it will always use the latest patched version 1.02. Is there something we can move or redo in the interim? PS Not being rude guys, but you never actually tried this installer at least once on the Steam or 1.02 version?
  18. Thank you! Appreciated - have credit card all warmed up and ready :)
  19. Nope, my question was more on the status of this upgrade with the Steam version of BS1. I can see that the answer is either (a) we don't know or (b) we don't want to say just yet, so I'll leave it be and check back later. Congrats on the update release regardless.
  20. Is that for me too? :)
  21. I just realized that you guys might not legally be able to release a Steam version upgrade unless it's through the Steam store? I don't mind waiting for a Steam release in the form of DLC and having to do that, but would appreciate at least some feedback of what's going on. If it's a registry tweak or installer bug then I'd be happy to pay now too :)
  22. The patch does not work with a Steam purchased version of the game, or rather it comes up with 'Black Shark Not Found' for a default Steam install. Is that intentional or a bug?
  23. Ha, as a new flyer I just got bit by this one, i.e. wondering what I was doing wrong in terms of no TVW flight piper. Thanks for this thread OP, it was driving me crazy in memorizing the wrong checklist :)
  24. Yep - that was it, thanks. I hadn't realized so much before how the HOTAS is important to this sim, i.e. you have to learn the various hats as there's no 'do this function' equivalent. All part of the fun I guess..
