  1. In the 1.5.8 recent release it seems the print screen seems to output a PNG file. What is new is that the PNG seems to have a corrupt image header. Example: https://mudspikefiles.s3.amazonaws.com/PNG_problem.zip Using a popular image processing library to convert it to a jpg, such as ImageMagick > identify -verbose Screen_171203_123000.png identify: Expected 8 bytes; found 0 bytes Screen_171203_123000.png' @ warning/png.c/MagickPNGWarningHandler/1832. identify: Read ExceptionScreen_171203_123000.png’ @ error/png.c/MagickPNGErrorHandler/1806. identify: corrupt image `Screen_171203_123000.png’ @ error/png.c/ReadPNGImage/4077 This means we can't resize/rescale DCS screenshots on the Mudspike forum software. Thanks for any info or help.
  2. Well, it has the little one. Squint really hard and it's an Invincible class.. :) https://forums.mudspike.com/t/oh-hello-there-harrier-first-impressions/4984/114
  3. Thanks for that. I thought I had resaved the mission a couple of times in 2.1.1 but I wonder if there were no pending changes then it didn't overwrite it? Anyway, I edited the flight to be a two-ship, resaved and now get my proper tasking. Cheers for taking a look, this one looks good.
  4. Hi! I have a very simple mission where I use JTAC with the A10C. The issue I am having is that the JTAC sent datalink red triangle target doesn't seem to be transmitted and displayed on the TAD in the A10C. I am using DCS 2.1.1 (as of 21 June 2017). If I set up the same mission up in the same way in 1.5 then it does work as expected. The steps to reproduce are: 1 - Contact JTAC on attached mission. You can do this from the starting position of the A10C at Creech from mission start at 133 MHz AM. 2 - Go through 9-line readback. 3 - After remarks and confirm, JTAC says 'sending datalink, standby'. 4 - No target is received in 2.1.1 TAD, while in 1.5 I get a 'Wilco' or CNCL option on the TAD plus the red hookable target. I've attached the mission, in-case I've set it up wrong and it's not a bug. Thanks for any help. a10-jtac.miz
  5. I think it looks fantastic so far http://forums.mudspike.com/t/dcs-world-2-1-update-screens/4237
  6. Intriguing! :) I'm not at a PC capable of doing this today, but one initial thought on a variation of this: 1. Set up your client DCS to affinity mask to 2 cores. (Assuming you have a beefy 4 or 8 core PC) 2. Set up (free) VirtualBox VPC, put DCS World base in it (or NTTR if you have two copies), allow it to see the GPU as passthrough, set it up to allow the 'host' to network to it, set render3d to off in DCS config e.g. set it up like a server. 3. Set VirtualBox affinity to just use 2 cores (say, you have 4 physical cores, so 2 for DCS and 2 for VB). The network loopback of the host/client should be pretty quick (i.e. no network is going out your PC while playing). 4. Use your DCS client in your normal Windows install to connect to your VirtualBox 'DCS server' and have potentially faster client framerates? A sort of 'network layer as concurrency multi-threader' for an engine where a lot of stuff happens just on thread #0. Anyway, not sure it would work but if anyone has the time and perseverance then it would make an interesting experiment similar to what Sw0rdfish is doing but on one PC instead of two. :)
  7. Fantastic fun - great work Polychop! We did a quick test here: http://forums.mudspike.com/t/multi-crew-gazelle/2620 Would it be easy to take the existing campaign and use it as co-op? Do we need to edit missions etc. for the extra slot?
  8. Starway - PM me if you want any help in other hosting options or perhaps creating a torrent. I'm happy to help, so let me know if I can.
  9. Ah - I see Sryan , that link is just a clever ruse to win the anniversary contest? Genius! ;) https://forums.mudspike.com/t/mudspike-forums-1st-anniversary-contest/2027 Those Fulcrum shots are gorgeous.
  10. A Mudspike review here for people interested in the new campaign: http://www.mudspike.com/dcs-a-10c-basic-flight-training-qualification-campaign/
  11. I should add, the people getting caught the most are the ones that gets upgraded by Steam from 1.2 to 1.5 automatically. They had it working and then it stops because their GPU isn't up to it. We show them how to go back to 1.2, but obviously it's confusing, and not just a case of people just ignoring the minimum specs required (although they do that too :)
  12. Hi, Product suggestion. For 1.5 and 2.0 (anything with EDGE) a quick DXCAPs call is made when DCS is starting up to check that the users graphics card has the required capabilities, i.e. shader version DX level and even VRAM. If any of these checks fail then a simple dialog would appear that would let the user know that their hardware isn't going to fly and why ('you require a DX11 compatible card'). :pilotfly: A bunch of us volunteer our time over at the DCS Steam forums to help new people enjoy DCS, and since 1.5 has released then the issue has come up quite a bit, so this tiny feature 'bootstrap' would help. Cheers! FF
  13. Updated ok. For feedback (as nothing went wrong) here's what happened: - Clicked the DCS World OpenBeta icon. Updater updated to latest. - It used the OpenAlpha 2 files as a source for update files (which was unexpected but neat I guess?) - Found about 5.4 GB to update. It did this via torrent and it worked well. The rate was ~5 MB/s download and was quick and had 8 peers or so, unpacked about 7 GB of updates. - Nicer dialogs for what was going on, i.e. it showed each file being updated. - 1.5.2 then launched, flew a mission, seemed to work :)
  14. Without context this quote seems vaguely threatening. I like it. :)
  15. So here's an actual question. :) What do people think is the best way to prepare for the NTTR module arrival? I have 1.5 open beta install all ready and waiting, but should I also have the non-beta ready to update too? I've not really thought about it that much (hi internet!) so I was wondering if it might be steps like 'open beta 1.5 -> (upgrades to) -> 2.0 open beta with NTTR' and then '1.2 -> (upgrades to) -> 1.5 (but non beta and no NTTR)'.
  16. Well, personally the best word I can think of would probably be 'Released' but that one is pretty good too. My glass is half-full of sand, hopefully this weekend. :)
  17. No, no CN option on the latest open beta on Steam. Looking at the Steam depot settings, the 'Achievement Language' is missing 'Simplified Chinese' or 'Chinese'. Until that is changed on the base DCS World appid 223750 then the various module depots won't show as CN (schinese) either - although there are app ids already for the translations.
  18. It's passed from the Steam client usually - see here to change that: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8487-WSCN-4121 I don't think the modules have CN localization depots filled in as yet - on Steam they show up as 0 bytes (even for the Su27/FC3 depot). PS How do you activate that Chinese Su-27 pit - I tried with Config / Special / FC3 and with the Config / Gameplay / Show Cockpit Language but haven't managed to make it work as yet.
  19. C0ff - some data points on the new updater so far, hope they are useful. Western Canada: 100 mbps connection. Torrent: 193 peers, 90 KB/s up, 1.3 MB/s down. HTTP method: 0.6 MB/s down, looks throttled at source. Remember guys, the more people in the torrent swarm the faster for us all. Plus, BitTorrent as a protocol tends to 'ramp up' as you get more data to share, so you may see slow speeds at the beginning but it'll increase over time. If you cancel the torrent (boo! :) then you get a dialog asking if you want to continue using the HTTP method.
  20. Yep +1 for me. Just to provide more info, I think it is locking the view to stare at the open cockpit door handle, and then not releasing it after.
  21. Apologies if the site is a little slow at the moment, we're actively requisitioning more hamsters for the power wheels to tackle the rush. As the site literally runs from the milk of Beach's kindness (uh, delete that, sounds kinda weird) then please hang in there.
  22. Steam updated nicely. 2.6GB ish in about 2 minutes for me (I can see the servers from where I sit, so that helps). Note: Any steam users, please consolidate all bug reports here at the main forums. We're clearing out the Steam forums to get rid of dupes etc. More info and Steam specific workarounds here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/490121928343664003/ Congrats again to all those at TFC/ED!
  23. Wow, that's a decent DCS_ invasion :) While we wait, my '1.5 Release' gif-o-the-day: http://i.imgur.com/LHZALiB.gifv
  24. To save on the F5 keys (we don't want to kill this forum (please)) then the 'openbeta' channel Steam sub info is available here in a livestream: https://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=steamdb-announce It will save lots of F5'ing on Steamdb's pages as well. Even if you don't use the Steam version, when the 'openbeta' appears on the above list then that's a positive sign. Happy 1.5 Release Day everyone! (no jinx's).
  25. Yep, agreed. I've just bought the NTTR presale, even though I'm just going to pick it up on Steam again anyway. Following this thread has been enormously fun and the camaraderie of the release is good to see; the purchase is just a tiny token of thanks to the ED/TFC teams for all their hard work.
