Succellus Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) I m curious, i think Voice Activation control is paramount for complex sims if you don t want to pause to seek some "Element 2 engage air defenses" on the keyboard and funble with keys. Since the Mic that comes with the Zalmman 5.1 ain t cutting it, and i am unable to find a microfone only set (like the LVA 7330) or make someone send it to my country i m bitten: I got curious about what you guys use, what would you like to see improved on your headset, how is the mic performance (very important).. I also use track ir pro. Yes i m doing a little benchmark....:smilewink: Thank you in advance. Yskonyn Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I am using a Sennheiser headphone/mic combo. But I can't provide any model indication. It's just not there. :S It was around 25 euros and has superb bass reflex, deep sound and a very decent mic. It was a great deal. The TrackClip Pro fits well too on the sides of the headset. The only thing I find not so great is long time comfort. It has the habit of making my ears hurt due to the tension when I have it on for extended periods of time. Otherwise a great deal. MudRat02 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Yeah I used to have the Zalman 5.1 but in the end one side died due to fatigued wires. I'm now using the G930 wireless headset. Sound quality is tons better and of course, don't have to worry about cords! Battery life is 10-11 hours, so recharging isn't bad and you can use them whilst charging (you've just got to put up with a cord plugged in - like any other headset). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Steelseries 5Hv2 (3.5mm version). Sound is good for gaming, not really for music, as it does not have a good bass. The mic is from pretty good quality :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

MackTheKnight Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) I use the Astro AC30. Great quality and comfort. Great sound, no wires (I even got a lithium-ion USB battery pack to power the LEDs on my TIR clip - and it almost never needs recharging, those LEDs don't exactly suck a lot of juice)! Succellus Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) The G930 seem to be a winner, but 150 buck leave me wondering as it will arrive here (unless i find it locally which i doubt) around 300,00 bucks Hows the G 930 Microfine performance ? Does any of you use any kind of voice activation program ? The saitek is very interesting too but maybe too much directed to flight sim. Theres the Cyborg 5.1 grs but i have to dive into reviews. Thanks all so far, many sets i did not knew. He copied the idea from me. :D Just get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Instant-Charger-Lithium-universal/dp/B002FU6KF2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297347673&sr=8-1 You don't need that exact one - there's other options...It's nothing more than a rechargeable battery intended to be carried as a "backup power source" for your ipod, phone, whatever. You could (carefully) shorten the wires on the USB cable for the track clip and velcro this battery onto your headset or something. And before someone asks...because I know someone will....no, it will not cause a "surge" by plugging it into a battery pack. The headset, like your phone/ipod/whatever else with a USB plug is made to work off USB voltages. At a given voltage (USB voltage in this case) a device will only take as much power as it was designed to take at that voltage. If you had a battery that could deliver 5 trillion amps at 5 (? I honestly forgot now...I think USB is +5v/ground for power and 3.3 for signalling) volts...you'd still only have ~ 50ma or so flow through this headset. Edited February 10, 2011 by Teej 1 "Tank! Deigs Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) without a doubt I suggest going the high end headphones path I went for ATH A900 Audio Technica Headphones (amazon $218 - very cheap compared to what I paid) with a $15 clip on Zalman microphone for Teamspeak3. The guys can hear me fine, and I have the best cans in that price bracket. A10 cannon sounds jizz worthy. LawnDart Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 He copied the idea from me. :D You don't need that exact one - there's other options.... Sure did, and there's no need to modify anything. I just put the battery pack in my pocket and let the tiny clip wire run down my side when I'm using the TIR clip on my G930. (I can still get up, go to the bathroom, make a turkey sandwich, return to the computer - all while never leaving the conversations since the G930 also have G-keys that can be mapped for PTT in Ventrilo). Here's the lithium-ion battery pack I got: http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Instant-Charger-Compatible-Devices/dp/B0016Y9R6C/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1297380614&sr=1-5 As far as headsets, I used a Fatal1ty headset (~$80 new - I'm sure they're less today) for years and never had any issues. One of the best I've had... but now, with the G930, it's stored away in the closet as a backup. kingpinda Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Man thanks so much for that battery pack idea! I too have the g930 but I don't use it whilest Flying. I have dedicated my old creative fatality headset with the trackir pro clip for flying. I mean... Why use a wireless headset with a wired trackir right? Never thought about a battery. Never even thought about it would only need juice lol... I think. it has usb. so it MUST connect to pc :p

Succellus Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Ok Now the question. Does any of you use any voice recognition program like VAC, GC2, or any other while flying ?
