Hi everyone, The Split Air is a French group of pilots and modders on DCS that you maybe know from Virtual Air Festivals airshows with some of our teams such as the Wolf Delta or the Rafale solo display and many more. We're also known for our previously published mods, such as the Rafale/M2000ND and OV-10A Bronco, which have been well-received by the DCS community. Our upcoming project represents a significant leap in quality for DCS free mods: the Alphajet. If you don’t know this trainer jet, you will love to fly it on DCS World when the mod will be ready. The mod will offer the best fidelity, featuring a specific EFM ! We put a special attention into the flight model with a new modelisation, as far as we can say the result is perfect. For now, you can catch a sneak peek of the project's progress on our Discord server. The mod is currently 80% complete and we are giving the maximum to have it fully ready as soon as possible. Help us by showing your support in sharing the news and fly it when it will be out. We can’t wait to see the community flying this wonderful aircraft. After over a year of refinement, trial and error and learning from other flight model projects, I present to you the successor to my previous FM project. Basic External Flight Model (EFM) template! This is an enhanced version of the EFM template provided by Eagle Dynamics, with emphasis on simplicity and editability while also feeling smooth and believable. This FM template was designed to work "out of the box", designed like a two-engine subsonic trainer/fighter. What is included: Lift, drag, side, and thrust forces. Axis and discrete (keyboard) pitch, roll, and yaw controls with trim. Landing gear, flaps, slats, and air brakes. Engine startup/shutdown. Basic fuel draining system. Basic damage mechanics. Semi-realistic stalling, Dutch-rolling, and other oscillations. Infinite fuel and easy flight options. Example parameter to interface with the Lua environment. Lots of comments explaining how things work. The template itself and a pre-built .DLL file can be found on GitHub! https://github.com/IGServal/DCS-Basic-EFM-Template Here is a pre-built .DLL with instructions on getting it integrated in a mod: BasicEFM mod.zip Requirements: Microsoft Visual Studio (2019 was used to create this, but other versions might work as well). Basic understanding of C++, Lua, and flight physics. Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are always appreciated!

This Elytra Mod is an entertaining, overpowered, fun and fictional mod. It does follow some general rule of a delta wing design plane but still, it will be just a mod for fun. It’s still in development but I hope posting it on forum earlier would gather some idea. YOUTUBE LINK DISCORD LINK Requirement: FC3 / F-15C What Elytra can provide? 3D THRUST-VECTORING You could practice with the quick mission F/A-18-Ace-dogfight. An ace AI F/A-18C would pull you into an AoA fight which you could make the best use of TVC You could switch mode in FCS page to toggle Pitch/Yaw/Roll TVC separately. Sometimes you only want the Pitch TVC. In order to make the plane less UFO, the plane is made for not stable in stall. Don’t pull too hard while doing a post-stall maneuver. It takes time and practice to play with TVC. Cobra, falling leaf maneuvers are can-do with Elytra but a mistake could lead to unexpected spin like a kite out of control. Touchscreen cockpit Elytra use a touchscreen clickable cockpit I'm glad that the development of it is going well! Advanced Data Fusion System With 'Omniscient System' in Elytra, Elytra has information of ground and airborne units in the action zone. Elytra can utilize such information for weapon release and situation awareness. Custom BVR Radar 6 DOF DAS System Elytra can detect and lock nearby enemies at any degrees. DAS can launch Gen5 fox2s in lock on after launch mode. With Gen5 fox2s Elytra can attack enemies on its six. Guided A/G Weapon supported Support GPS guided and Laser guided weapons so as to perform precision strike. High angle manoeuvre It does not have an AoA limiter as you can easily recover the plane with TVC and strong thrust. You would easily stall in turning tight as a delta wing would slow down the plane very easily and you would face too high AoA. Even without TVC it still can achieve high AoA. You would stall around 45 degree AoA Very hard to fall out of the sky as the plane usually would recover itself if you push the throttle with the nose down. Super-cruise ability You can achieve 1.25 Mach without afterburner at altitude Mach 1.25 with afterburn at sea-level Mach 2.5 with afterburner at altitude Not so useful Fly-by-wire Still tuning. You could override the FBW system at the FCS page. It would help in level flight. Modern weapons compatibility 10 Hard points for missiles and bombs. Superb dogfight abilit EFM flight model doesn’t mean better than SFM. It just means I can mess around with the flight model and make thrust vectoring possible. The lift and drag are calculated by component separately. If you snap a part of the wing you only lose the lift drag from the part it snapped. A fair RCS for a modern fighter Custom Integrated HSI Waypoint, airbase, markpoints are shown on the screen. Fully HMD The HUD is integrated into HMD. Custom advanced EW You can see how far is the missile incoming EW filter (SAM, AIRBORNE, SHIP, MISSILE) Check six warning Cockpit WIP Only BVR mode is using F-15C. ACM mode are implemented with custom avionics code. With the custom avionics you can now acquire air targets and ground target by the HMD. No more FC3 control. Two mode auto throttle (ATC) Damage Model I didn’t work on the damage animation. No bullet holes but the wing would malfunction if it gets hit. It would snap by parts if it’s taking too much damage. Overwing Vapour Limited A/G ability (CCRP / CCIP )! Cluster bomb, iron bomb. Guidance not available right now but laser guided weapon might work with JTAC Ripple bombing setting available. See the effect of 12 x CBU-97 ripple run below TODO: Better stall behavior Custom radio I have not yet worked on the cockpit. I prefer to build a simple cockpit showing all the mfd screen and publish it. Maybe I could seek permission to use the cockpit of an existing mod as I’m not a good 3D builder… Will work on it when I consider the flight model is acceptable. This is a one man project so don’t expect the work progress would be fast. Elytra specification: Fuel capacity: 8400kg (Internal Bay) Wing span: 13.85m Clean weight: 17530 Max takeoff weight: 37340 Performance Clean configuration Maximum speed: Mach 2.5 at altitude; Mach 1.25 at sea level G limit: +9.0/-3.0 10 Hard points Credits: 3D model base from Nestor de Buen Current Progress Coding Clearing. Download would be available when ready.

The Iconic Talon Veco Simulations is happy to announce our first public community mod for DCS World: the T-38A Talon. The T-38A Talon is a two-seat supersonic jet trainer powered by two J85 turbojet engines. Entering service in 1961, it was the world's first jet trainer to exceed Mach 1. This revolutionised pilot training with its high performance, endurance, and safety. Extensively used by the U.S. Air Force and other NATO allies, it has trained more than 72,000 pilots since its inception. Even today, over 65 years after its first flight, the T-38 remains a key part of NATO fighter pilot training for many nations. The T-38A will be released as a free standalone full-fidelity community mod with a clickable multi-crew cockpit, highly-detailed 3D model and textures, custom-built external flight model (EFM) and stand-alone avionics. 3D Model The creation of the 3D model began with a simple external design and evolved into a year-and-a-half-long project fueled by precision and dedication to capturing the iconic shape of the T-38A. Our focus on VR optimization and accuracy led us to extensively overhaul the external model and revise the cockpit design three times since 2022, ensuring every detail meets our high standards. Extensive research was crucial in this journey. We gathered hundreds of high-resolution photos, both first-hand and second-hand, of the T-38A and its T-38M counterpart. Using photogrammetry, we meticulously captured the most complex shapes, ensuring no detail was overlooked. To bring the model to life, we are utilizing PBR textures and have hand-painted hundreds of bolts, ensuring an accurate and vibrant representation of the aircraft. This attention to detail not only enhances the realism of the model but also adds a dynamic and immersive quality that makes the aircraft feel truly alive. We have a skilled team of well-known 2d artists and livery creators - Roughmaster, Wolfthrower, Crash, Aqil, and Fistick - dedicated to crafting a diverse range of liveries for the initial release. These liveries represent various operators throughout the aircraft's extensive operational history. Each livery is detailed with unique weathering effects specifically crafted by Roughmaster to reflect the wear and tear experienced by these aircraft over time. Furthermore, we are developing templates with multiple levels of wear-and-tear to include in the livery painting kit. This will allow the community to select their preferred starting point when creating their own liveries, providing flexibility and creative freedom for everyone. External Flight Model (EFM) Development of the EFM started in 2022 and it is responsible for the simulation of the flight dynamic model, engine model and aircraft systems. The flight dynamics of the T-38A are defined by over 25 stability and control derivatives, considering non-linear effects of angle of attack and Mach. The coefficients were derived from wind tunnel tests, empirical estimations and CFD analysis - and subsequently verified against U.S. Air Force flight tests. It features accurate stall characteristics, yaw and pitch dampers, and authentic flight control deflection limits and is continuously refined through extensive flight testing by the Virtual Turkish Stars. The J85 engine simulation uses an analytical model based on a NASA design, providing detailed engine parameters influenced by environmental conditions, with features like afterburner, cold start, and compressor stall accurately represented. The system model employs a "divide and conquer" approach, simulating each component independently, covering electric, fuel, and hydraulic systems on a near-study level, ensuring an honest representation of the aircraft's operational procedures. Standalone Avionic The T-38A features a classic steam gauge cockpit and is fully equipped for instrument flight training. Community mods for DCS typically have limitations regarding the avionic capabilities, as they don't have access to the Software Development Kit (SDK) that is used by 3rd party developers. However, we have carefully chosen an authentic 1970s avionic configuration that allows us to fully implement every functionality, without the need to own any other module and - equally important - without sacrificing our self-imposed level of fidelity. This configuration includes: A fully functional UHF radio for radio communication with ATC and even other players via voice chat. Intercom for communication between the pilot in the front seat and the instructor in the back seat via voice chat. TACAN for range and bearing information to ground beacons, taking into account distance and line-of-sight limitations. ILS for vertical and horizontal guidance during instrument approach, including marker beacon. A mechanical Flight Director System provides the steering cues to follow the desired flight path. Our vision is to provide an unforgettable experience that truly represents what it's like to be in the seats of the T-38A Talon, creating a digital representation that goes beyond what you see on the screen. This project represents a culmination of extensive research, meticulous craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the historical significance of this iconic trainer. We invite you to join our journey and experience the T-38A Talon in unparalleled detail. Bonjour, je me présente.

Bell UH-1M (Huey Hog) Helicopter gunship ..... flyable, clcikable, standalone, startup procedure, EFM, fully armed..... etc etc.... Vietcong added to the infantry list in Mission Editor.... for the Vietnam War. CREDITS : see credit text in folder (Cockpit by Yakarov) This is a Hi-res cockpit of the Bell UH-1M, with a simpler startup. It is not my intention to replace the UH-1H module by Belsimtek or replicate it in anyway; however there was a perceived desire in the modding community for a fully fledged Vietnam War era helicopter gunship; and so I did the UH1C, then realised that infact the UH1M was a better configuration and carried more weapons......so..... here we have the Bell UH-1M. Startup : look in folder for "UH-1M startup procedure.txt"....... there is a switch to turn on/off hints.... If you want a HiRes cockpit with all the bells and whistles working, please consider buying the UH-1H Huey by Belsimtek, that is an excellent module and gives you the full immersion experience. This project (UH-1M) was drawn together and completed by Freddy. DOWNLOAD THE UH-1M HERE NEW LINK...... 3 March 2022 Fixed landing on moving ships ...... credit and thanks to NoCallsign for testing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dglZauqLl1oXjf6FmsvJSua5qW-jpjdk/view?usp=sharing installation : : C:\Users\XXXXXX\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\Bell UH-1M

Hello guys, I'm currently working on a educational EFM (mainly to understand how DCS communicate with my c++ code) and so far, things are going well. I've seen in a Razbam's harrier video somewhere on youtube some green lines comming out of the plane, whose I think are the forces vectors representation for debuging purpose. Only function I see in the EFM API which would do that trick seems to be : ed_fm_enable_debug_info(); Also after analyzing Cpt Smiley F16 educational code, I found quite strange to not use any of the add_global_force or add_global_moment, only local force, which are applyied to the center of gravity. I'm not a huge fan of lift beeing applyied to the CG, since it's should be applyied to the center of pressure which is differrent. Well anyway that's another story. If you have any information about the use of ed_fm_enable_debug_info() and the difference between local and global forces, this would be of a great help! Thanks in advance! Ekoj.

Hello Could someone give me an idea of what the flight models in DCS "look like" and how they are integrated with the DCS engine. What are the inputs and outputs? What data from DCS are accessible for mods and what data is not? Are the FMs a set of equations with different inputs and outputs? Are the FMs a set of tabulated values for each possible flight case? Are they something else? I'd very much appreciate if examples could be provided either as screenshots, formulas or code. All answers are very much appreciated!

I have created a basic helicopter EFM and used the AH-6J Littlebird as the demo aircraft. I started this project because there are no DCS helicopters that are completely free (i.e. don't require the Ka-50 module). Therefore I created this EFM, which can be used as a template for other helicopter mods, as an open source project. I chose the AH-6 due to the simplicity of its cockpit and systems and most likely won't be made by an official 3rd party. This mod falls under the GNU GPL v3.0 license. Before downloading please understand that this is not originally designed to be an end user mod and the aircraft is very unfinished. A list of missing features and limitations includes: Basic vortex ring state Basic ground effect No autorotation Lift is not affected by altitude or temperature The flight model is not closely accurate to the real aircraft. Data is based on the OH-6 Cayuse Radio and communications are not functional Engine torque not simulated No pilot model Basic texturing Probably some of bugs List of features: Main flight instruments function Working weapon system and cold start with clickable switches Can control from both seats Working RWR Can use M134 minigun, GAU-19 and rockets Basic Damage model Basic multicrew (can switch controls but cockpits not synced) Download: https://github.com/CrudeCoder1/Helicopter-EFM-Demo Install like any other aircraft mod, unzip and place AH-6j in C:\Users\"USERNAME"\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft A cold start procedure can be found in the Doc folder. The flight model was created from NASA CR-3144 and the framework of CptSmiley's F-16 EFM demo The flight model uses data from the OH-6 Cayuse, and engine and electrical systems are also based on the OH-6. Please note that the cockpit and systems are not 100% accurate to the AH-6J. Thanks to: Particleman for basic external texturing CptSmiley for the original F-16 demo Nero.ger for his RWR example script A-4E dev team for providing working examples of weapon systems
