HELLO AND WELCOME TO FIRST IN DEFENSE Who we are We are a DCS unit that hosts casual yet challenging Naval and Marine events and campaigns taking place during the closing years of the Cold War, as the Soviet Union begins to crumble and tensions in the Middle East escalate. To further simulate this time period, First In Defense simulates five squadrons and their accompanying airframes: ➣ VF-31 Tomcatters flying F-14A Tomcats ➣ VFA-132 Privateers flying F/A-18C Hornets ➣ VMFA-321 Hell’s Angels flying F-4S Phantoms (Simulated by F-4Es) ➣ VMA-542 Tigers flying AV-8B Harriers ➣ VMA-133 Dragons flying A-4M Skyhawks (Simulated by A-4Es) All of our simulated squadrons participate in each of our operations, requiring constant teamwork and precise timing to complete objectives and return safely. Custom liveries representing the listed squadrons are available and are mandatory for member attendance. Squadron Event Information Events include weekly operations ranging from casual single missions, expansive PvE campaigns, joint operations with neighboring squadrons, and monthly tournaments. Each mission is hosted Thursday through Sunday, with run times tailored to North American players. Due to the nature of our squadron, training and related activities are not currently included in our syllabus. As such, our squadron does not require check rides or proof of skill to join and participate in operations. All we ask is basic proficiency with your chosen airframe and SRS functionality. Although frequent events may be challenging to new players, we strive to create missions that are completable by all skill levels and provide valuable learning experiences for all members. Information regarding weekly mission dates, map information, mission briefings and sign-up forms are posted on our Discord channel (See below). Please note that access to this intel is only available after submitting a squadron application. Leadership & Advancement As our squadron does not require training or check rides, rank and advancement are entirely based on member attendance. Each attending member begins as a Navy Ensign (ENS) or Marine Second Lieutenant (2LT), based on their chosen airframe and squadron. As members attend more events, they are promoted to higher ranks, leading to more control within operations as flight leads and planners. Permanent Discord link

Please, let Jester write down what he says so we can understand it correctly. Good morning everyone: First of all I want to congratulate Heatblur for an impressive job with the F-4. It is undoubtedly a fantastic module. The fact is that I am writing this post asking for help to solve the problem I have with Jester. As I am not an English speaker and have mediocre English. Taking into account that Jester sometimes speaks very fast, due to the urgency of the situation. With a peculiar pronunciation and ways of speaking... adding jokes and comments... it is impossible for me to understand everything he says. And it is also necessary to take into account that he can say the same thing in many different ways... but conditioned by the urgency of the situation, with a joke or a witticism... the fact is that I do not understand him completely. I am more concerned with what he says to me than with flying... Understanding that he is not going to record the thousand audios that he has in the different languages that DCS users have. My request would be, if possible, that when Jester speaks, the text with what he is saying appears, that you can change the duration of the text on the screen and that there can be different lines of text. I think that many non-English speaking people could benefit from it and could consider buying a module in which interaction with Jester is necessary. I know people who do not have the level of English... are not going to buy it. Translated with Google, please do not hold it against me.

We are currently recruiting pilots for some of our squadrons within the VAF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRp9VFTaUEU What to expect? A mature group where we primarily focus on scenarios within different time sets (1980s-2010+) for 3rd & 4th-generation aircraft. VAF is predominantly operating on the Syria and Persian Gulf maps for our combat operations and Nevada and Syria for our training scenarios. As new maps come online we will look to expand our operations. What do we offer? A relaxed milsim environment where we provide support, training, missions, campaigns and competitions. We have our dedicated servers based in London and operate in the GMT timezone but have members all over the globe. We run dedicated training and flight nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 1945 UK time. Note that during the periods when British Summer Time is observed, the start time is 1945 BST, i.e. 1845Z, otherwise 1945Z. Training and missions run for about 2-2.5 hours generally. With our dedicated servers up 24/7 this allows for flying outside of set hours to complete training and flying with other squad mates. We offer a bespoke online platform to track flights and training, as well as interactions inside our discord and platform to sculpt missions and realism. What do we ask from you? Prepare for some element of self-learning for well-documented features of your airframe. Achieve and maintain a competent level of flying discipline to participate in set missions. Follow our online rules to keep VAF an enjoyable experience for everyone. Currently recruiting 4 x F16 Pilots (2 SQN) 3 x Harrier Pilots (3 SQN) 2 x F18 Pilots (VFA 416) 1 x F4 Phantom (6 SQN) 8 x Rotor (7 SQN) 1 x Mission Maker Introducing 6 Squadron will be the VAFs newest squadron flying the F4 Phantom. Hurry as slots are nearly filled and training has started. 7 Squadron will also be a new formation of existing squadrons. It is an auxiliary squadron and it will house all rotor aircraft but will be split into different flights. We are starting to train for the Kiowa and CH47 using the UH-60L mod. Apache and Hind aircraft have existing structures and are also looking for pilots. Our carrier air wing is looking to add F14’s to the fleet and as such are looking for leaders to define SOP’s and stand up a new squadron.
