Steel111 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Hey fellas, just bought the DLC today and i'm a little lost. I went into the mission folder a loaded up one of the missions. The problem i'm having is that my units are not moving nor firing. I set my tanks on a path and they don't move. I set my art to fire on target and nothing happens. Is there a "start" button to hit so my units will move and fire? Also is there a tutorial that comes with the DLC? I don't know how to get back to the map after i get into JFO/JTAC view. I bought it on "Steam" Thanks Edited February 5, 2014 by Steel111
Steel111 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 no one has any idea what the problem could be? Is it Steam? Should i buy the game directly from DCS?. It's a good thing i didn't buy all the DLC like i wanted to. i would have thrown $400 down the drain.
VincentLaw Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) no one has any idea what the problem could be? Is it Steam? Should i buy the game directly from DCS?I am not familiar enough with CA to answer your question, but I can tell you that you don't need to rebuy the game to use the non-steam version. The CD key from steam can be used to activate the ED shop version too. The basic procedure to find the steam CD key is: Steam Library DCS World CD Key Combined Arms Copy key to clipboard I am guessing you do not need to reinstall though. Hopefully someone else can help. Have you tried hitting the pause break button on your keyboard? Edited February 5, 2014 by VincentLaw [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

VincentLaw Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Okay, I have basically never done this before, but here is what I did to make my units move. (in spoiler to save page space) Left click unit, then left click set path: Left click where you want it to go (just one point would have been fine): Left click set path again (maybe this is the step you were missing): unit should move like that: Also, press this button if you want to actually drive the vehicle yourself. Paganus Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 A good place to start - \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Doc\Combined Arms Manual EN.pdf. It's just difficult to figure out what's going wrong without a ton of info.
HiJack Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Try to press the "pause" key on your keyboard.

Steel111 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Here are my steps and i know i'm doing something wrong. 1. I left click on my unit. 2. I click on the "Set Path" buttom at the bottom of screen. 3. I left click on the map all my set paths. 4. I then right click to clear which it will then show my unit with a yellow path line to a red flag. My unit would now just stand there and not move. I notice on youtube videos the units move right away. I know there is something i'm not doing right. I hope this explains it much clearer. Thanks
upupandaway Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) HiJack has a point. All SP missions start in a paused state. Does the mission clock / timer in the bottom right corner progress? Edited February 5, 2014 by upupandaway [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!

Does the mission clock / timer in the bottom right corner progress? The clock is actually on the top right corner in the map view. In any case, maybe if Steel111 takes a screenshot and posts it here we will catch what is wrong. Press PrntScr to take a screenshot. You're looking for a joystick that includes a lot of buttons and hats switches, and a throttle control. Anyway, it does sound like the game was stuck on pause. Please don't get me wrong, just want to point out that DCS is simulation platform not a classic game. So be prepared to study. Every DCS module comes with good manual so it is advisable to take a look on it. Most mature module is A-10C Warthog and Black Shark, so they are good places to begin if you want to study high fidelity simulator. If you want to start with something less complex maybe Flaming Cliffs 3 is way to go. Community is friendly so don't hesitate to ask if you get into trouble. Good luck! Thanks, the more complex the better i like it. I like game like "War in The Pacific AE", "Command Modern Air/Navy". "Cliff over Dover" So i like that this game gives me that. It just that i couldn't find the manual for Combined Arms for DCS. If i did i would be reading it. Thanks for the info.

Steel111 Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Try to press the "pause" key on your keyboard. Ok I notice the clock in the top right hand corner is stopped and when i go and press the "Pause" button on my keyboard the clock stays in stop mode with the flashing "P" next to the time.
Steel111 Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Figured out the problem. The game does not work with my laptop. I know this because i repurchase the game on my other laptop and now it works fine on that computer. Thanks for the help anyway fellas
JMasterFlash Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Glad you got this figured out. Welcome to DCS! As you said, you like complexity, this sim will NOT disappoint. I'm sure you've already watched videos of the other modules and seen that the su-25t and ca just scratch the surface. I love complexity, I love flight too, but complexity is why I play (fly) DCS!
Revan Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Probably this one, especially if you want to try A-10C , Thrustmaster Warthog. I do just fine with my Saitek cyborg evo, why would i need a $500 joystick??? DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!!
