Pacific Theater?

Any chance that after the European theater is finished, that we can get a Pacific theater?

Luthier already mentioned during the kickstarter something about moving to the PTO in the future. However, it is highly unlikely that such an expansion will come to life in the near future. It is reasonable to assume that once DCS WWII launches with the late war 6 a/c and Normandy as a theater, the next move will probably be to accomplish some of the kickstarter intended projects that did not get funded (i.e. B17, Normandy map extended to South England, A26 invader, Hawker Typhoon, etc).

 

We still have a very long way to go, and if all goes as planned, i think that the most optimistic projection about a PTO theater would be in 2-3 years from now. So let's just hope that DCS WWII lives up to the expectations and also addresses some of the major issues of this sim first (like multiplayer, lack of dedicated server, visual damage model, etc).

I always thought what might be cool is something based on the Japanese/Chinese front... I dont know that a lot or anything has ever been done there as far as sims go, and a map of the area could be modified to use for modern sims as well...

Personally I think the Eastern European front is more interesting but I agree that it ought to be one thing at a time.

 

To tell the truth the reason I think the Eastern Front is so interesting is that I dream of one day flying a DCS quality YaK-3.

Question remain on how easy it will be to expand or add to existing maps with EDGE and it's new tools.

 

I would hope more of Europe would be expanded beyond the small patch we are getting initially...

I bet Battle of stalingrad will give you a high quality of Yak-3 on par with DCS. If your computer can't handle it, you can still resort to IL-2 1946 for Eastern Front. As a matter of fact, IL-2 series is focused on Eastern Front. You don't need yet another high quality. I am also a big supporter of Pacific theater. A lot of water? yes. But you get Carrier ops, instead non-moving airfields. However, I support one thing at a time. Let's get Normandy/Western Euro up first.

I feel it's ok to think big. If anything, it lets ED & RRG know they have many years of interest and work waiting for them if they want it. I remember Luthier mentioning the Pacific theater aircraft at one point, specifically the Hellcat. I for one would love to see the Pacific come to life eventually.
