Tricky11 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Ok guys.. Got myself Trackir 5 and TM Warthog but now wondering what pedals to get?? Recommendations??
dburne Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 My dream pedals: http://mfg.simundza.com/mfgcrosswind.php I have seen many reports from individuals that love these pedals. Currently I use the Saitek Combat Pedals, and really like them. I have had them a little over two years or so now, and they have done well for me. Whenever I find a reason to upgrade to new pedals though, it will be the Crosswind. Aginor Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I also use the Saitek pro flight combat rudder pedals, but from what I hear the ones without the "combat" are also widely used. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

docfu Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Get a pair of pedals that will outlive the USB interface. Just google for "Slaw Device"... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115807 (I didn't write that post but agree with what he wrote. I've had mine 6 months and they are rock solid. Solid steel feels like something real beneath your feet.)

POLARIS1 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I really really get it that there is nothing better than MFG Crosswind and Slaw Device. But...please...had someone done a direct comparison between the two? If so...I would appreciate reading about it...

Considering the price, and very limited availability, I doubt you will find anyone with any significant time using both. Cali Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Depends on how much you are willing to spend. I had CH pedals for years and never had a problem. I recently bought Saitek Combat Pedals and haven't had a problem either. The CH cost me $100, Saitek cost me $172, I'm not going to spend $400 on MFG Crosswind pedals when a ones under $200 dollars work just fine, heck the CH ones worked great. Both CH and Saitek pedals are precise to me and the only real difference is the width and with the saitek you can change the angle of the pedal. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
sobek Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Never had the CH pedals but MFG have way less friction compared to center force than the saiteks, so it is possible to do way more precise control with them. Whether to you that is worth the price point is highly subjective, however now that i have tried MFG i certainly wouldn't want to have to go back to the Saiteks. The difference is more than just noticeable, especially if you fly props or helicopters. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
dburne Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 The difference is more than just noticeable, especially if you fly props or helicopters. Stop tempting me dangit! :) I really do not need to be reading these pedal threads... I got the itch bad lol. And there is nothing wrong with my Saitek Combat Pedals at all! They don't have to be that precise, I have flown DCS BS with both CH and Saitek and the movement is the same....at least to me. But it all depends on how much the person wants to spend. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
sobek Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 They don't have to be that precise, I have flown DCS BS with both CH and Saitek and the movement is the same....at least to me. Again as you say yourself, that is very subjective. The MFGs have enabled me from being *forced* to use a curve of twenty due to their stiction to silch, nada, no curve needed at all. That is a big deal, because all of a sudden i have the same precision over the full travel, not just around center. If you're hovering in a Huey, you are pushing that left pedal hard already, and that added precision in that region makes the world of a difference for smooth flying. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Yep and that's why I said that....because I noticed no difference between the two pedals I have owned and used. I have not had a problem with them and their function to me doesn't justify my spending $400. Someone could say the same thing with spending $172 for the Saitek pedals, it's all up to the user and what they want to do. I have used X45, CH, unmodded cougars, uber modded cougar sticks and the warthog is by far the best one out of them all hands down. Maybe the MFG pedals are the same way. For what I do, what I have works great, no complaints from me. The only reason I sold my CH stuff is because I had them for years and acquired a modded cougar and warthog. So I figured it was time for a change and the Saitek pedals allowed for a few better things then what CH offered. It's just like buying a car, some people might not noticed a small difference in the power and others will. Whatever the OP decides to get I hope they work great for him. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Tricky11 Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Well i think the MFGs are out of the question not because of price or anything but the fact that it looks like you got to wait a while until you recieve them and thats one thing i aint good at and that is waiting lol. Thing is there dont seem to be anywhere in the uk selling the Saitek combats at a reasonable price? Best i can find at the moment is £170 and that seems a lot considering??
Hobo Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Thing is there dont seem to be anywhere in the uk selling the Saitek combats at a reasonable price? Best i can find at the moment is £170 and that seems a lot considering?? According to this link: http://store.gameshark.net/Pro_Flight_Combat_Rudder_Pedals/4909/173?scid=saiteksite which is a direct link from the Saitek website, it's £179.99, but out of stock. I think they may be shutting down the pro combat rudder line. I could only find two separate listings on Amazon for them, one at $448.47 and another at $370.94.
xxJohnxx Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I have owned the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals for quit a long time, but when the Huey came out, I just realised that those are not as precise as I would like them to be. Especially the stickyness arround center made, and quit a lot of unwanted friction when deflected where just uncomfortable. So I ordered myselfe the MFG Crosswind Pedals and after a few weeks they finally arrived. I gave them a try and oh god, my Saitek ones just flew right out of the window. Compared to the Saitek Pedals those things are just amazing. No plastic-feeling, no loud noises from, no weird center resistance. And they are very adjustable as well. You want more centering force? No problem! You want the to change the angle of your toe brakes? No problem! You want to change the recentering force at the outer ends of deflection? No problem! You want your toe breaks to be more stiff? No problem! It's just amazing what you can do with those things. They are expensive, but I would definatelly not hesitate to buy them again.
