TurboRUSH Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 What a shame I missed this! (When will people figure out weekends are for personal time...) I was.expecting to see team 2 victorious. Congrats to the 51st!
Buckeye Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Sounds like this event was a hell of a lot of fun...I even enjoyed just reading about it here, so I can't imagine how cool it must have been to be a part of it. TAW_Blaze Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 And how many refuels during 3 hours? :) And how many missiles fired/reloaded? :D I think I landed more than 5 times to refuel on Sukhumi. Basically I was point defending there, that allowed the other guys to go back to rearm. I fired 5 missiles total, 2 of which hit Camper, the other 3 didn't really do anything and was more of a rush at the start, none of those 3 should have been fired in the first place. Never rearmed :)
SFAL Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I like to see more and more of this. wanted do organise one but personal stuff (gf) got in the way. When the grim late autums and winter hits ill give it a another shot. Events like this will teach pilots the true skills. No airquake...no taxi take offs and a lot of team work. In the end Im sure the 51st won by team work SA and setting ambushes. Not by camping in the mountains.

Not only that, these guys are fantastic group of guys.
D4n Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I think I landed more than 5 times to refuel on Sukhumi. WOW, I'm sure at least after the 3rd landing you become very tired, and I wonder how you managed a 5th time, or did you take some stimulants before the event started/or during, to stay awake/not get tired/exhausted? :D xD I fired 5 missiles total' date=' 2 of which hit Camper, ...[/quote'] Wow I would like to see this on YouTube, if sb. can review the track and record this scene (firing-hits) would be awesome to watch! :D Cause I am sure camper tried to evade this missile? :) Never rearmed :) Oh wooow... so apparently wasn't necessary? :D And which 3 missiles did u have left? AMRAAMs or AIM-9s? And PLEEEASE, sb. go and explain to me, I need a definition of "airquake"... -.- (Maybe related to the FPS-game "Quake" ? ) DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013 DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. TAW_Blaze Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 WOW, I'm sure at least after the 3rd landing you become very tired, and I wonder how you managed a 5th time, or did you take some stimulants before the event started/or during, to stay awake/not get tired/exhausted? xD The only problem was that trim doesn't work and I had one side full of missiles and the other with only 1. By the end I got totally sick of having to constantly counter the roll due to imbalance. Wow I would like to see this on YouTube, if sb. can review the track and record this scene (firing-hits) would be awesome to watch! Cause I am sure camper tried to evade this missile? I'm sure he tried. I was a bit too close. I thought I could get out because I never got the launch of the tor until about 2 seconds before I got hit, even though I was in a heavy bank so in theory it should have worked. Still haven't seen the acmi but that's as much as I remember. We had to do something because we were losing at that point sitting back wouldn't have worked out. I knew there was only 2 of them over Sochi in the end, there's a lot of stuff we could have done to box them in and kill them with Spade but none of that stuff had a chance of crossing my mind after having about 4 hours of sleep the night before. :D Oh wooow... so apparently wasn't necessary? And which 3 missiles did u have left? AMRAAMs or AIM-9s? No, not at all. If I think back I could have flown the first 2 hours easily without firing anything. As I said I wasted the first 3 AMRAAMS because I expected something different to happen, so it took some time to adapt. I had another slammer left and 2 AIM-7 in the end. And PLEEEASE, sb. go and explain to me, I need a definition of "airquake"... -.- (Maybe related to the FPS-game "Quake" ? ) No objective, random people flying around, using afterburner like no tomorrow, firing missiles like no tomorrow, not caring about getting killed, or not caring about anything in general. Like Quake.

It was both tough and at times very tense trying to maintain CAP with limited fuel and missiles! I look forward to flying with you online as well, Rage. My usual plan when it comes to entering something new is to master it as much as I can own on my own in single player before I join the MP environment--simply put, I'm pretty terrible at "not being good" at things. With DCS I've realized that this is not the best way to go as I need people much more knowledgable than I to teach me the in's and out's...so in that sense I do intend on diving in head first (well, once my internet connection is established). My fear with diving headfirst into an event like this is that I might make a silly mistake or just be so utterly clueless that I ruin someone else's time in the event--trust me, I do dumb shit against the AI pretty much every day still, haha. I've just gotta hold myself back from something like this until I at least have the basics of navigating online missions, flight comms, etc. down at an average level. I'm usually a quick learner so hopefully once a few of the vets help me out I'll get up to speed quickly...depending on when the next event like this takes place, I might be ready to roll. TAW_Blaze Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I think the most important thing to take away is that we need to prepare for these kind of stuff more than we did currently. My fear with diving headfirst into an event like this is that I might make a silly mistake or just be so utterly clueless that I ruin someone else's time in the event It happens but I doubt anyone will openly start calling you out for stuff. This is not the kind of environment where people will blame everything on you like you can see in a few other games.. If you happen to be part of one I'm fairly sure there'll be someone that can give you a rundown of what's really important. Not that you'll learn it straight away, but it's a start.

Does the "firing computer" calculate which missile to fire for best kill-probability, so it didn't give a f*** to imbalanced aircraft? ...after having about 4 hours of sleep the night before. :D Why this? Regarding your "parachute bug". I did not spot this bug, I had my parachute replaced after landing and picking up fuel. I think this is why "ground crew said rearming completed" after "refueling complete" although they were not requested to add anything under weapon pylons. Or maybe because I have also requested "repair". 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
