Aginor Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Unfortunately I couldn't watch the second half (just a report about it this morning), but it seems the US boys were fighting well. As for Portugal: I'm not sure what their tactic is, they don't look a lot like the team we are used to. Ok, they got lots of injured players which of course hurts their performance, but not even CR seems to be in good shape. Now let's do the math for group G: For Portugal to reach the next round, I think the only plausible possibility is that they win against Ghana, with lots of goals, AND Germany must win. To be precise: If Germany beats the USA 1:0 then Portugal needs a 4:0 against Ghana to advance. If the USA wins against Germany Portugal needs a 7:0 which seems even more unlikely. If USA and Germany play a draw, then they both win. I hope they don't play like that. Playing purely defensive will be the best tactic for those two, mathematically. Actually Ghana has it easier, they would need only two goals more than Portugal in the next game (2:0 for example) and a German 1:0 against the USA to advance. Surely we were confused before this event: let's only say that Verratti was going to came back home 2 weeks before the world cup, as part of the 30 - to - 23 selection cut. It's sad cause we did a great European cup and an impressive qualification to this event. After this, even if I loved his play in Liverpool, it's the third time that Suarez has some kind of personality problem that let him to be a dangerous player and person. It's a matter of time before we're going to see worst problem with him. Last bite to Ivanovic was 10 match penalty in the premier league, I hope that this time will come something like 20 or 30, right cause he continously repeating this behaviour, and people like him* shouldn't play such important event seen by million of people and children. Although I will miss some of the more well-known faces, like Pirlo, Balotelli, Rooney and some more. But that's life (and football).
