Busterbvi
Greetings. About 3 months ago I downloaded DCSW from your site, shortly after installation the auto updater kicked in and brought me up to version 1.2.8.2703. I bought the F15 on sale yesterday and the installer tells me .......... "Cant install f-15C 1.2.8.27915 into DCS World 1.2.8.27203. Please use `update DCS World` menu item and install again " I was sure that the stand alone download version automatically checks for updates when it is launched ? I checked the target in Properties on the single player icon and it is correct. DCSW is on my G drive SSD. G:\DCSWorld\bin\DCS_updater.exe. How do I update to the latest version so I can shove my new F15 in there ? Thanks. Buster. Asus Z87. i7 4770k. 8 GB DDR3 @ 1866 mhz. GTX980ti SC. 120 GB SSD. 1TB Evo SSD. 750W PSU. W7/64. ED Team c0ff Posted July 24, 2014 ED Team Share Posted July 24, 2014 Repair can restore autoupdate.cfg using autoupdate.dat. And will restore autoupdate.dat if you still have a valid autoupdate.cfg file. But if you lost both, the updater can't figure out what to update/repair and only solid option is to reinstall. ED Team c0ff Posted July 28, 2014 ED Team Share Posted July 28, 2014 Can he install over old install and updater will still see modules that were downloaded, or better to do a clean install? Ok, 2 ways: 1) do a clean install If I were a support guy, I'd stop answering here, because this method is simple and robust. However, for the adventurous souls: 2) In the game install dir (this is important) bin\DCS_updater.exe init EN bin\DCS_updater.exe install WORLD F-86F ... Replace EN and F-86F to the lang and module(s) of your liking respectively. This will act like a human-aided repair. But you're on your own here. Anyway, I strongly suggest NOT to touch autoupdate.cfg and autoupdate.dat files no matter what. Dmitry S.
