JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I noticed the huge amount of flares of the SUs. Do we have that many in FC, too? Sorry, I did not really count them.. I think I read somewhere some russiam missiles actualy use liquid fuel. Wich might explain the delay on ignition. As I recolect, most missiles are not instantly launched with pressing the trigger. Loading up radar data to the missiles EPROM is one of the other causes. .
Andrew_McP Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Someone remind me again why ED are wasting their dev time on helicopters and (potentially) stuff like the F-16/18/whatever? Excuse me, I have to unplug this keyboard and dry out all the drool before... <Bzzzzt> Andrew McP PS The cockpit footage in that aerobatic plane really makes you appreciate how hard those people have to work. What a roll rate! It looks tame enough from the outside because we're used to seeing such things. But from the inside... woah, that must hurt! PPS And when all the flares get fired I found myself impressed by the fact the frame rate stayed high. I obviously spend too much time in front of my PC. :-)
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted March 17, 2006 ED Team Posted March 17, 2006 Flares causing fps slowdows hasn't occoured since i bought my new comp, and that's like 6-7 months ago :D Oh, and i wouldn't say "wasting their" time andrew, that's a little harsh..... Wait til you grab the controls of the KA-50 yourself and i bet you'll eat those words back. ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
Andrew_McP Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 It's not harsh, it's just my opinion. ;-) I just think in life it's better to do one thing well instead of several things only averagely (is averagely a word?). One of the sad things about LOMAC is that by spreading the workload across multiple aircraft ED avoided addressing the things which were really lacking in the sim. More aircraft was never the problem, that was a marketing-led decision, I'm sure. Still, we have to be grateful for what we get, and I'm grateful for the F-15, A-10, Mig-29, Su-25, 25T, Ka-50 and whatever else they add even if I hardly ever fly them. :-) When I see movies like that it reminds me what we might have had if ED's development had gone a little differently. You youngsters can afford to wait another 20 years for a highly detailed Su-27. But by then I'll probably be pushing up daisies. ;-) Andrew McP
GGTharos Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Well, make things clear, they are 'wasting' their time on a helo because they have a 'contract' by which they are 'paid' to 'waste' their time on it ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

ARM505 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Is it just me, or did the music from that video TOTALLY sound like some of the music from the utterly classic game Starcon2?????? Spathi, Ur-quan, Umgah, Arilou etc etc...Showing my age here....
Doug97 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 What on Earth is that thing with the forward swept wings? Cool vid!
Force_Feedback Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 What on Earth is that thing with the forward swept wings? Cool vid! A thing that was already featured in a colouring book I had from 1986. Lol, guess the CIA bought some of those books as well. The only differnece with the current S-37/Su-47 is that it had a pointier nose, everything else was exactly the same. :p BTW, I have a cool video on the Russian test pilots, with lots of new footage concerning ejections and a nice HUD tape of a FCS failure on the Mig-AT, and the emergency landing following it. Also, there are more disturbing images of a su-27 crashing at an italian airshow in 1990, the pilot didn't eject, the crash of Timur Apakidze in 2001 on the su-33, same story, the su-33 went into ploughing mode. And, a Mig-29 falling like a leaf, controlled, into a forrest :( (also the aftermath of a mig-21 crash in 1991, with the 3 meter deep hole and pilot's body :(). Oh, and my favorite part, at least 3 new ejection test footages, one of the su-30MK (using a real su-30, not a mock-up) and 2 firings of the Buran's vertical seeking K-36 ejection seats. Also some older ejections seats, but not too much footage on those. I don't know if it's allowed though, since it is from the television programme "Wings of Russia". Kenan Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Well, as far as I know, none of those videos featured SU 27S/P version we're flying in Lockon, so, it may be possible those little things like flaps may be just a part of more advanced types? Force_Feedback Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Sorry for allahu akbarring the thread, but I've uploaded an awesome Ka-50 video, in which you can see a demonstration flight from 3 perspectives in one movie, one from the ground, the other from the HUD and the 3rd from teh cockpit. Uploading it to Patrick's.... Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Bublik Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Look at minute 12:14, when they gear down the flaps stay up, why in Lomac flapc go down with gear? It's a known bug, actually flaps are controlled be fly-by-wire system and also can be switched to landing mode manually. I told about it a few months ago in the russian forums, but as far as I understand the bug was considered unimportant and minor, so it is not going to be fixed in Lomac. I'd love to be mistaken on this :) WR=210=Vladimir http://lockon-vpg.nm.ru http://whiteravens.nm.ru http://white-ravens.com
