Nielis Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hi Guys, First of all congrats with this amazing aircraft. I really enjoy flying it. I have a problem with my gear. When I'm spawning on the runway to fly I can't retract my gear after take off. The handle moves up but no actual gear retraction. Does anybody has the same problem? Strange enough it works fine during the training missions. Guys, I really need help. When I´m starting parked at a airfield via mission editor my gear won´t get up. I have unloacked the gear handle as taught via de training mission. Pressing G de handle moves up but nothing happens with the gear. No bumpy take off or exceeding the 600 KIAS. Please help because this really spoil the fun. I have it in game mode, could this be it? My Pictures at: http://vortex-images.com/
Kayos Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Maybe I should just macro the gear so I can just use 1 key for up and 1 for down [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Buzzles Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I have it in game mode, could this be it? Could be. Have you tried sim mode to see if the problem is still present? Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Mode1961 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Just confirmed this. In GAME mode, the gear won't raise and lower 'properly', in SIM mode it works just fine.
Eldur Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 The MiG-21 doesn't even have a separate "Game" keymapping. Actually I like this. Let's get rid of the game mode, this is Dee Cee Es! :D
DarkFib3r Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) I was running a practice flight and forgot to retract the gear. I may have gone above 600km/hr, I'm not sure. But when I realized the problem, I was able to get the gear to come up fine. Unfortunately, in my haste, I forgot to return it to neutral after 5 or 10 minutes of flying around. When I was coming in for a landing, I tried to drop the gear but they wouldn't fall. I figured this was due to being out of CO2 or them getting damaged from me not raising them earlier. I hopped to the emergency procedures and was unsuccessful in getting them lowered again. Here is what I did: 1) Raise gear handle all the way up (gear up) 2) Drop gear handle to neutral 3) Open the emergency lever on the right hand console and turn it all the way 4) Watched the lights on the gear panel. They did not turn off and stayed red. 5) Pulled the emergency gear handle just behind the stick 6) Lowered the gear handle 7) Gear did not deploy 8) Tried shaking the aircraft to get a gravity drop, but no luck 9) Performed a belly landing How do you lower the gear properly using emergency procedures? Did I do something glaringly wrong in the emergency procedure to preclude the gear dropping properly? Any feedback is appreciated! Edited January 8, 2015 by DarkFib3r
aviatorhi Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Can anyone give me a pointer on how I could macro the up and down cycles of the gear? Way too tedious to have to cross my fingers 5 times to get them up or down.

I think you need to pull the emergency handle next to the stick first, as it also opens the gear doors, then use the main handle.
ctguy1955 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I could not get my gears to go up or down using the G key on keyboard, and only because I watched a video on youtube about starting up did I find out about the knob to use.
Sokol1_br Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Option for HOTAS'less people handle LG with less keys, 3: Change in Mig-21 Keyboard.lua -- Gears {combos={{key='G'}},down=device_commands.GearLever,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=1.0,name='Gears Up',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, {combos={{key='G',reformers={'LShift'}}},down=device_commands.GearLever,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=-1.0,name='Gears Down',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, {combos={{key='G',reformers={'LCtrl'}}},down=device_commands.GearLever,up=device_commands.GearHandleFixator,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=0.0,value_up=0.0,name='Gears Handle Neutral + Gears Handle Locdk engaged',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, {combos={{key='G',reformers={'RShift'}}},down=device_commands.GearHandleFixator,up=device_commands.GearLever,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=1.0,value_up=1.0,name='Gears Handle Lock released + Gear Up',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, {combos={{key='G',reformers={'RCtrl'}}},down=device_commands.GearHandleFixator,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=0.0,name='Gears Handle Lock engaged',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, {combos={{key='G',reformers={'LCtrl','LShift'}}},down=device_commands.EmergGearsNose,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=1.0,name='Nose Gear Emergency Release On',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, {combos={{key='G',reformers={'LCtrl','LAlt'}}},down=device_commands.EmergGearsMain,cockpit_device_id=devices.GEARS,value_down=1.0,name='Main Gears Emergency Release On',category='Gears, brakes and chute'}, 1st key (or combo) remove the lock and raise the gear. 2nd key (or combo) put gear lever in neutral and put the lock. 3rd key lower the LG. Using external keymapper with cycle ability (Joy2Key, Xpadder), one joy(?)/throttle button can handle this, 1st press raise, 2nd neutral, 3rd down. If do air start the first 2 button press do nothing. (?) If the person have a joy with few buttons LG is the last thing that he should set on buttons. :) Edited July 6, 2015 by Sokol1_br
