I got 2 password resets in my email. I never tried to reset my password. Is someone trying to hack the accounts?

This is most likely another automated attack on the server.

Instead of just locking up threads, please tell us what to do

I get these PW change request mails on a rather regular basis in the last weeks, came here and found a thread on that issue, but it is locked, but no clue, what to do with it. Just leave them and wait until they broke it? I'm still concerned heavily. Please STOP locking threads concerning highly valuable account data.

What 'highly valuable account data' do you have on ED forums, keeping in mind that your forum account and your E-shop account are two different things?

Message from const:

There was an error in a script. It was not a malicious attack. Please ignore the pwd change requests.

Someone trying to hack my account

A few days ago I received this email:

Failed Login Notification on ED ForumsDear escaner,

Someone has tried to log into your account on ED Forums with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 219.223.189.241

All the best,

ED Forums

Looks like someone was trying to hack my account from China. Maybe it would be wise to ban that address from the server.

Unless of course it's not a static IP address. Better to make sure your passwords are strong, different from any other passwords you have and changed regularly.

If they tried and failed your password is already secure :-)

Edit: to answer your question, go to User CP at the top of the page, then on the left under Settings and Options is Edit Email and Password.

Fore a secure password, make it at least length 10 (the longer the better), do not use words from dictionary, mix capital and lowercase and include some numbers and special characters, like dash, dot, slash... and do not use years, dates, names or any personal reference.

What was the IP address?

I ban all IPs from China on a site I run. I used to get all kinds of crap from them.

It seems there are random bot attacks that try to hack accounts. To be honest, i am not aware that there was one successful attempt. It's just a bit annoying.
