No kidding Radbes. WTF? You can import all the DCS PDFs into iBooks via iTunes or Diskaid for free. ED, how about finishing one beta product before reaching out for additional revenue streams? WWII, now iOS, can you please just focus on getting EDGE and NTTR completed first? Then, you can develop all the iOS and Android content that you desire. Or better yet, build some user-friendly development tools for EDGE scenery design and turn the Mod community loose! :doh:

 

Yes Wags, I'm frustrated ... but note that I've purchased several DCS modules and I am a loyal customer like many others on this forum.

 

Read the app newsletter. Soooo...The manuals I already have, For free, with the products I already own (and some are available for free download even if you dont own the products), in PDF format that I can just move to my android tab/phone and read there. Why would I want to purchase the manuals seperatly again?

just copy the manual from Doc folder to my tablet, and it works fine.

Why need to further purchase the manual?

 

If you read the release you will see why they will charge a fee. If you are happy and content with a pdf version on your tablet - great! I, myself, will check out the B&W versions to see if the extra features are worth it.

Well it didnt take long, but yes, you found them out, they took the guy doing the ground radar for the F/A-18 and said, go build an iPad app for us, he said he could, first he had to finish EDGE, then clean the bathrooms, because ED is actually one guy, working on all aspects of the sim by himself...

Everyone needs to relax a little bit. You don't have to do anything. If you're that obsessed with hearing about things the millisecond they're announced then yes, you need those things. OR, you can continue to just read the forums every day like we do anyway, and you'll hear about whatever news here... like always. :music_whistling:

No, I just think that since everything from facebook is posted on the forums minutes after it's released "exclusively" on facebook, that it'll be the same for this app.

 

Basically, no news/pictures/videos/updates will go unheard on these forums. And if it does, it probably wasn't that important.

Then exclusive was a misprint unless they plan on creating the app in such a way that the pictures cannot be copied, short of photographing the screen.

Actually, I am more interested in Pay Per View manual content.

Nice way for ED to make some extra money and create attention to other products the the ones people already have.

 

I doubt i will use it (android here). And besides i already have all products + pdf's.

 

But hey whats stopping other people that find it to much hassle to import pdf's etc to tablets and what not to get it for a small fee.

I agree, and might open a window to sell other documents and stuff, I am all for making ED to want to expand their documentation :)

Thanks for update. I would be happy to pay for well made SP campaigns. I do hope that regular DCS world updates won't nerf my paid for campaigns after a few months though.

I would assume that people that are allowed to sell content through ED/DCS will be responsible for keeping it in working order, but I dont know for sure on that....

"Exclusive" can also mean they get the screenshots before anyone else gets them. For a short period of time it would be exclusive.

To the contrary, I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing better free campaigns in the future just from the talent developed making the paid campaigns. If people are really interested in selling campaigns, then they will probably want to step up the quality from what we currently have. I would not really be interested in buying more of what we already have (walls of text between missions and limited voice acting in them), but imagine story telling like the Ace Combat series or Wing Commander 4 combined with the realistic simulation of DCS. That would be pretty cool.

 

(edit: looks like I completely misunderstood what you said, but hopefully ED doesn't do anything that severely breaks old missions.)

I would imagine one of the benefits of paying for campaigns would be that they are regularly updated to work with the most current version of DCS World.

Its in testing, nobody wants to release DCS 2 more than the ED team, believe me. Nobody on the team is laughing, they are working their asses off to get it out to us as soon as they can, in the best shape they can...

It is not whining, it is called a comment. Not all comments need to be sugar laced and full of fluff. I am just commenting that the terrian, so far, looks terrible. I realize it is WIP but that doesn't change the fact that it looks terrible in the screen shots shown so far. Do not like factual comments? Shoot your modem and router, and never sign onto the internet ever again.

 

Now, why don't you brush up on your grammar since it is severely lacking. I don't care if you are from Hungary either. It would be far more beneficial for the DSC community than requiring me to playing "flanker2" or "falcon". :thumbup:

"Flogger23m thinks it looks terrible" is a fact.

Saying that something "looks terrible" is completely unconstructive, and at best it doesn't provide any insight to the developers about how they can improve it, or worse they could take personal offense at your insult.

 

You can improve the quality of your contribution to the forum by saying something like: "These screenshots would look better if the terrain detail was sharper. There may be a problem with the current texture filters. Perhaps including normal mapping or procedural noise would make the terrain appear more realistic."

 

See how much better that is than "The terrain looks terrible."

I would gladly pay for official ED docs, charts, etc, on a mobile device. However, the elephant in the room is -- no Android? Nice way to segregate the community.

 

I was hoping to read "Android device support will be added soon!" or so in that email... but not a word.

guys...if you notice, it is published by sky jet international. Its not ED themselves...its a separate company. ED has no control on where sky jet decides to publish its apps.
