i find that it's actually helpful in multiplayer for signalling that you're on a runway if someone is about to take off at the same time given the disorganization and chaos that's going on. also if say you crash/emergency land and you're stuck on the runway until you can be repaired it's a good way of getting other people's attention as a warning for when they takeoff or land :P

I use it on public multiplayer servers when I'm engaged with enemies and outnumbered to call for help. It's a pretty nice feature :)

I'm so lazy with guns... any sort...

Can someone please tell me how to use the flare gun? How do I choose the color of the flares?

Thx !

Really? You just click on the trigger. It only has the one colour as far I know.

Four different colors are available: green, red, yellow and white. There are separate keys / controller buttons available to reload a new color.

I'm using the flare gun to notify others when I'm about to enter the runway (red) and when it's clear (green). During approach I shoot a white flare at ~2 km, then a yellow one when I'm close to touchdown. If I remember, that is :)

Dear Shilka. I hate you so very very much. Love, Rex

if on a public server, I'll use it to signal my intent to take off or I'm on approach.

Or while in the air, use it to help form up with my M8's.

Btw, new in 1.2.15 is a new trigger condition in the mission editor: "Signal Flare in Zone". This allows for scenarios where the player launches a number of flares (1 - n) of a specific color in an area to trigger actions that the mission designer had implemented.

Works at least with the Bf109 flare gun and the colored signal flares of the Ka-50. (are the signal flares of the Mi-8 are functional now btw?)

Yes, I am hoping the WWII server guys can use this to have situations where they are able to stop the FLAK script from firing on friendly planes... but all sorts of uses for this I think.

Imagine having nicked a P-51 in his fuel tank and its leaking and hes still flying... You pull up next to him mid-air, then you give him a flash of your teeth. Then maneuver to put the flare gun port next to his leak... Then you wave goodbye, then click...

Boom!
