An F-4 or an F-8 looks brutal and ready for business, but the Viggen's wing shape always makes me think there's something kind of derpy about it.

Nothing wrong with solving puzzles. Same as playing fighter pilot. :smilewink:

Also cats and ducks, Vigg means 'duck'...

Plus, it has ground radar and an early HUD (as in 1970s - F-14A/B vintage design - not quite as sophisticated as the Hornet's or Viper's HUD).

It also set the basic layout for the subsequent Euro superfighters (Typhoon, Rafale, Gripen) with it's canard equipped delta.

Viggen cooperating with a CVBG/F-14s in the North Atlantic - could be interesting...

Your new av...

So the gear is from the Saab 32 Lansen?

EDIT: I swear you just removed some letters from the av after this post :megalol:

Yes, that was sneaky...

I saw it this morning and when I checked again an hour later it was gone. Scoundrels...;)

Definitely looked just like the pictures you posted on the RB 04, especially with the lettering. It's not like the landing gear riddle where lots of things look kind of close, but not quite right.

I think is an early WIP main gear from F4 Phantom after all... but is this meaning the Phantom will be flyable? Or any other plane that might be hinted here? The logical assumption is no. It means just that the team is working on something... something. Working is just the first step.

Can someone please describe exactly what was in Cobra's avatar, for those of us that missed it?

Just the text "TRYCK EJ HÄR" or what?

forward controll surfaces of the missile, part of the body, the white line, and the letters TR before the end of the picture. colours seemed to be a match with the picture i posted.

anything else was guesswork as the missile was not deployed with many different airframes.

That however, I think is an Rb 15, the successor of the Rb 04.

Anyway, if it was an Rb 04 you people are probably right in that it narrows down the airframes to either the A 32 or the AJ 37.

One thing of interest is that the A 32 was a two seater with quite an advanced avionics package including some kind of dual radar systems. I wouldn't cry over a 32, but I think the 37, aka "attack Viggen" would be a better fit given it's a more modern single seater.

Also, the AJ could pave the road for the JA 37.

For all of the abovementioned aircraft, something like a southern Baltic Sea theatre would be almost necessary. I would imagine Gotland, a stripe of SE mainland Sweden and a strip of the Baltic countries coastlines would do the trick.

You are correct, but Cobra's avatar looked similar in composition.:)

Out of those two, I really hope it's the AJ37 Viggen rather than Lansen (which I'd expect didn't have a HUD). I don't really like the planes of previous generations (like e.g. Lansen).

If I had to choose a Saab I would choose either the Draken (I love that design) or the Viggen (I dislike the design but it is multi-role, which I prefer).

Agreed with both, but I don't think Viggen would classify as a multi-role plane since for each role there was a separate variant made.
