CTLD is looking so good now, it's the core of any campaign work because its all about the mobile battlefield, capturing (and making) towns and airfields. The suggestion from Apo re the supplies was awesome!

 

By the way, that video...how good is your move to hovering, that was insane piloting!

AI Transports Won't Pick Up/Drop Off Troops

 

I am unable to get the AI transports (UH-1H) in the attached mission to pick up and/or drop off infantry. This mission was originally created in DCSW 1.2 using CTTS.lua and has been converted to DCSW 1.5 using CTLD.lua and MIST.

 

In this new version, player transports can pick up and drop off without issue. It appears to be just the AI transports that won't work. As far as I can tell, I have used the proper naming convention for pickzones, dropzones and transport aircraft.

 

I will continue to experiment with this mission to see if I can get it to work, but if there happens to be something obvious that I am doing wrong, help will be greatly appreciated.

More on AI Transports

 

Since the mission I noted above was converted from DCSW 1.2 to 1.5, I tested a completely new mission created from scratch in DCSW 1.5. I used the CTLD and MIST lua files unaltered as they came with the CTLD download. Names used were as follows:

 

transport1

pickzone3

dropzone1

 

As the transport passes through the pickzone I do not get an indication that troops were picked up and none get dropped when the transport gets to the dropzone. The zones do have colored smoke, so the CTLD script file must have loaded.

 

The test mission that came with CTLD works fine, though.

 

Any help to sort this out will be appreciated.

you need to spawn some troops to pickup in pickzones3 using ctld.spawnGroupAtTrigger("blue", 10, "pickzone3", 0). It took me a minute to get this one also, I have been working on the Airmobile mission to get it running again. I have attached a corrected mission file.

Thanks Pikey! I wasn't that happy with it though... landings were a bit hard! I've also had a lot of practice loading crates :D

pdmarsh - Thanks for posting the example mission as you've found a bug! :)

 

It came in in the switchover to loadable groups.

 

Attached is your mission which now works with a fixed CTLD and mist updated to 4.0.57.

@MTrenda -- Thanks for responding. This approach would work and I'll give it a try. I have only scratched the surface of CTLD capabilities and need to learn how to use the other commands.

Do the embarked troops add to the gross weight of the chopper, BTW? Feels to me they don't, but I may well be wrong - as usually ;)

Anyone tried CTLDin 2.0? There seem to be some *new* SE bugs in DCS with regards to unit ids.

Haven't tried it yet... How's it holding up? Are transported groups no longer working for triggers?

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

It worked for me. I didnt put triggers, but....i can test it.

 

EDIT> Ok, it works fine, like always. It means, extracted units works activating triggers, since you assigned the group name to the trigger and not any unit name. What I see in 2.0 is that you cannot drop Infantry in top of the buildings, they spawn in the basement !!!! ehheeheh.

Good to know. Thanks for testing matador!

 

That means that trigger zones probably use the group id (which stays constant in CTLD) making the unit id not such an issue.

We had 25 on a VSAAF training server running CTLD and it worked ok. :)

C-130 Cargo Drop Functionality

 

There is something I would like to do in a mission, but I can't find an obvious approach using CTLD, so perhaps it's not possible. Upon landing, as a C-130 passes through a trigger zone, I would like it to drop a number of crates on the runway. Ideally these would be cargo crates that can then be moved by slingload with a Huey. Unfortunately, cargo crates can't be set to late/trigger activation in Mission Planner. Otherwise, that would be a very straight forward approach.

 

I found the following function in CTLD, but I'm not sure if it can be used with a "Do Script" instruction in Mission Planner:

 

"ctld.spawnCrateStatic(_country, _unitId, _point, _name, _weight)"

 

Is this a user-configurable function and, if so, is there an example of its use that is available? I believe I understand most of the parameters, but "_unitId" is one I'm not sure of. If this relates to the spawned crate itself, can the user assign such an ID?

 

Regarding the C-130, it would be great if it could be set to do a touch-and-go, immediately taking off after it drops its cargo, but this doesn't seem possible either. I tried getting it to fly just a few feet above the runway in a low pass, but I couldn't get it to go under 80 feet or so.

 

Anyway, any suggestions on the above will be appreciated.

Hello Ciribob.

 

I have a request, that I think, it would not be difficult to achieve.

 

I have seen many prisioners rescue, or kidnaping. So, it is easy to put an extractable unit somehwere to act as that prisioner. The problem is, if it is surrounded by enemy units, they will kill him. ANd if you put it in inmortal mode, they will shoot until they spend all the ammo.

 

Why dont make possible that red or blue units can pick up NEUTRAL extractables??

Instead of immortal, set the spawned unit to invisible, that way the bad guys can't see him but good guyes can. .
