Wing over 2 - Playstation.

(well, had my share of plane stuff thru megadrive but wasn't really sim).

Earlier than that - We had no computer home but my father once had my fly on one of his friends flight simulator. That was old, I was young, i don't recall the name but 3D was barely thin lines on the screen :P

This thread makes me feel so young. You were all playing flight sims way before I was even born!

My first flight sim was Pacific Fighters, and all I remember about it the fact that I loved the B-25 and that I was free flying above the island of Okinawa (didn't know its name at the time).

The first flight simulator I played properly was Il-2 Sturmovik (the original). I then continued playing Il-2 Forgotten Battles and IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. I still have 1946+mods on my hard drive, and I play it ocasionally.

Psion Flight Simulation on Sinclair ZX81. Spent hours flying this one. 1982 it was released. I remember my parents buying me the computer for £45 for Xmas and this game came with it.

Here's an emulated version I just found which you can play on the website. Just click the play button. Brings back memories!

Come on old gentlemen !

None mentioned F16 Combat Pilot ! Dynamic compains, logistics casualties of war, and scrabling response of enemie, MFDs, Nav data. ED are you listening ? Amstrad 6128 back in 1989

+1: for me also certainly the best in its time (1989? on the Amiga);

first was fs2.0 on the Atari 800;

also in that time: solo Flight and F15 of Microprose.

I played European Air War and Flight Corps.

Even have the EAW manual on my shelf still. :)

Tried Falcon 4.0 but found it too difficult. :)

Even flew a very early helicopter sim, Search and Rescue in its first version. :-)

Terrible graphics on a Matrox Mystique 220 graphics card (oh those days), but "3D" cockpit at least. And very interesting to get one's first introduction to helicopter flying. :)

System specs:

Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440)

Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use

F-14 by Dynamix on the C64. hard pressed to call it a "sim" but damn was it a lot of fun

"Got two bogeys at six o'clock, lets rock n roll!" I can still remember that voice from the game when it started. I was a killer in that F14 heh The C64 didn't feature TARPS missions like the then PC version did, but it would occassionally bug out and crash and reveal a screen full of patches, including TARPS.

My first "serious" sim would have to be Flanker 1.0 then of course the wonderful Flanker 2.0 then 2.5! Loved the Janes series as well - Longbow, F-15, F/A-18, ATF and of course later on EAW, IL2 etc..

I remember typing in a Sim on my ZX81 from a magazine, It took about a week to type on the crappy membrane keyboard, then about another week to debug and get it working, it was crap. Then I got the Psion Flight sim (nice link earlier!)

I really got into Sims playing an Apache Sim* for the Spectrum though, then a raft of sims on the Amiga then PC, The Rowan games and a game on the Amiga where you had to manage a band of mercenaries, cant remember the name though

Edit: *Gunship maybe!
