Have you tried gain sliders at SimShaker GUI?

I tried fiddling with the soft's volumes along with the Amp volume but so far to no avail.

Yup ^^

Hi guys, just stumbled on this while I am building my new pit. I've skimmed through the thread but maybe someone can help me. I use a Buttkicker LFE running off the subwoofer of my stereo. Would SimShaker still benefit me or would I need the Jet Seat or completely change my audio setup? Thanks Jason

I use buttkicker simulator kit with simshaker software. Currently how is your Buttkicker connected to the stereo subwoofer thru a sound card? SO how I have it setup is I listen to game thru my headset Astro A40 thru the fiber connection and I point the software to a second sound card to stream the data from the game to the buttkicker. I had a really old Audigy ZS card lying in the closet I dug up to use.

I tried on the other card, the onboard audio of my motherboard, made sure it was full 5.1, plugged it on the green plug and I'm having the same issues. I made it stereo and the effects got better but it still feels off. I kinda feel like there are huge volume gaps between the various effects and that some are too low to be played properly while others rumble the whole house (but still give poor feedback). I tried fiddling with the soft's volumes along with the Amp volume but so far to no avail.

What I noticed through the setup so far, one tends to make it too loud in the first place.

What I did is to set Simshaker SW to standard 50% and start adjusting the individual effects from 30% either up or down. The gunshake and eject the only ones at 50%.

Now, adjust the extra soundcard/output volume to about 75-80%.

From there adjust the Amplifiers Volume to a setting, where you feel the gunshake and subtly notice the bumps on taxiing.

From that point on adjust the individual effects as necessary.

I recommend to go for subtle and at first seemingly barely noticeable for the bump, rotor, etc. effects.

I reduced the rotor vibe for helicopters to about 2-3% and can still notice the vibration. :)

Hi Brewnix, So I am currently using a USB external sound card that runs to my stereo receiver. And from the receiver I have the subwoofer output going to my Buttkicker. I disabled the onboard soundcard just because the connections from my USB soundcard worked better with my receiver.

I'd love to use my headset for sound (as I wear it for TrackIr) but have never been able to figure out how to get the headset and Buttkicker to work together. Is there a way to send audio output to both The stereo and headset with DCS???

Thanks shargrat. I'll try to play with the various volume controls but so far I couldn't get it to work properly, I'm not sure I want to spend hours to work on that though ^^'

What kind of feedback do you get from the testing button when you open the program? It is by default at 50%, personally it feels exactly like a Jackhammer. Is that the normal effect?

I suggest you have too much gain in your sound chain. Try to set the gain in such a way that BK Amp red LED(clipping) would almost blinking when you play the Test sound.

Support for Gazelle in beta simshaker

Thanks a lot Olaf for the incredibly quick addition of support for the Gazelle!! It´s been there for like 2 days now and surprised to see no mention of that in this thread! (or maybe I missed it). Also great to see added effect for payload/weapons release for the Mi8! (haven´t tested yet...) Was waiting quite some time for that one.

Although I haven´t tried it out/"tested" it extensively, it feels very good (Gazelle effects). One small bug I found was that when the Battery switch AND the generator switch are both disabled, effects immediately stop but come back again when switched on, regardless of rotor rpm.

Another bug which has been there for a long time now, but apparently nobody has mentioned, is with the slider nr.11 in the helicopter tab (Payload release). When the slider is moved, the number next to it doesn´t change. It only changes when after you have moved the slider you slide another slider. It also doesn´t seem to save that setting which is a bit more anoying.

Cheers!

Wow support for the Gazelle already. That's stunning news and as stated a fantastic turn around. Sadly in the middle of my 6 on days at the moment so haven't even turned the pc on since Fri night, let alone flown anything. :(

Will test it on Thurs though.

frusheen bro,

can you make a tutorial on how to get the 3 audio devices to work, the 3 being the CV1 built-in headset, Buttkicker, and jetseat?

i like to know your buttkicker configuration, i.e. how many amps, speakers, sound cards.

if you use 3rd party apps like simshaker, VoiceMeeter, etc.

would be great knowledge to have coming from someone who has this type of setup working!

Seems ok, to me. The test "sound" is the most powerful, close to the Gun rumble.

I personally put too much volume on the Amp for the first tries.

As soon as I tried from barely noticeable and upped the volume and adjusted the sliders from there it was much better.

Subtle is the key.

Yesterday a changed the rotor vibration effect in that way, that when you dive, the effect intensity is almost reduced to zero. And of course the other way around when you climb very fast. At least for me, this feels almost like my stall training in a real prop plane...

Thx for this bug report. It seems to me, this is a bug in DCS/Gazelle. Tomorrow we have a public holiday here and then I'll dive into this...

Internally solved and should be fixed in the next release

Thanks for the help. I've been trying one last time to get it working for the past two hours, trying any volume combination from different sound cards. I just can't get it to work properly, everything is just a terrible quality compared to simply using the Buttkicker normally.

- The gun doesn't feel like a gun at all, no matter how high or low I put the volume it's just the same vibration sample that is anything but a gun, it doesn't even stays on and shuts on and off no matter if I keep pressing the trigger or not.

- The ground vibration is only a succession of weird soft bumps with nothing in between

- The landing gear feel like a jackhammer when its raising up or down (no matter how high or low the volume is)

- The chaff/flares vibration feels just like a slow dented cog messing around for half a second. Not anything like the clear and simple short vibration one would expect.

Other effects are equally as messy or not working at all.

I don't know what's wrong with my setup, I've never had any problem until now setting up anything related to audio, (I do music recording every now and then so I'm not unfamiliar with audio setups either), When I'm using the Buttkicker through normal audio it works just fine, I'm using SimVibe on other sims with my Buttkicker with no problem.

Thanks for giving me a chance to try it though! I'm sure it's great for those who can get it to work, personally I'll stick with simply using the normal audio sample from the original games that works pretty well with the right frequency filters. :pilotfly:
