Frankly that is a bit of a mystery to me. Some people claim that it has shot the first SLAM in Desert Storm, others say it were A-6E. I haven't yet found any pictures of A-7E with AGM-84E. The A-6E makes more sence though since it also carried the Harpoon, which the A-7E never did.

That A-7E guided the missiles seems to be generally agreed on though.

Yeah, I've read elsewhere that only A-6E's and F/A-18's could fire the SLAM's so I guess those are out. Up close and personal is IMHO the preferred way anyway, so no biggie there.

What's not to love about that plane?!

- huge bomb load

- great range

- carrier landing

- aerial refueling

- ground radar

- lots of guided and unguided ordnance to use

- single seat

- used operationally for centuries, fits into many scenarios

It has also some very fun avionics features :)

-Terrain Avoidance radar mode (mapping mode that shows terrain ahead above own altitude)

-Terrain Following radar mode (e-scope)

-Beacon radar mode (to find tankers)

-Offset bombing from known ground mapping radar returns

-AN/AAR-45 pod overlaying FLIR image directly on HUD

By the way, here is the flight manual for the A-7D:

Yea the first Manual is for the A-7D (Airforce vaiant)

and your manual is for the A-7E (Naval variant based of the A-7D)

Kinda nice to have manuals for both variants =).

Ooooh, I forgot some of them. Thanks!

Interesting features, some of them are also present in the A-6 IIRC, but in the A-7 the pilot handles them by himself!

This'll shake up multiplayer greatly, an excellent alternative to the A-10, I greatly look forward to the progress on this module, and given RAZBAM's excellent progress on the Mirage despite the shakey start, I feel confident we're going to get an excellently well done aircraft!

I also hope it causes mission creators to change some of the missions somewhat.

Since you could have the ground target areas closer to where the enemy aircraft might protect it.

Since both the A-7 and the AJS 37 viggen are both attack aircraft that are supposed to be able to operate behind enemy lines were enemy fighters might operate.

While the A-10 would not really enter an area untill it was free from any enemy fighters.

All 3 are ofc not supposed to engage enemy fighters if it can be avoided but atleast the A-7 and the AJS 37 have a chance at either avoiding and getting away or fighting if needed.

Where as the A-10 is very much a sitting duck with very little chance if you run into a enemy fighter.

Since alot of MP missions atm have the Ground targets placed in ways to make it safer for the attacker aircrafy by making it harder for enemy fighters to get there.

And i cant wait flying the A-7 at low altitude following the terrain to the target area.

Doing a pop up attack and then getting back home before the enemy knows im there.

Could we get a confirmation that this Module is still very much still ongoing? =P

Since a comment made in the A-6 Thread hinted that the A-6 might come out before the A-7?

Is that so and if then why? =P

As the A-7 should both be a easier aircraft to make and from all you have told us it has been in development longer.

The A-7 is the razbam aircraft i look forward to the most so would be grateful if you guys could confirm if the A-7 is still on the short list or if its gonna be even further down =P.

Since at first i thought i understood it as it was gonna be before the F-15E but know some comments are hinting at it comming after the A-6.

Quoting RAZBAM's facebook post on May 31st

For those who are not aware of, creating aircraft for DCS is not as "easy" to do as it was in FSX/P3D, it´s a very complex and time consuming task. As we are approaching the culmination of the M2000C module (team is hard at work adding new features and killing bugs to fill an imposed deadline,ALL bugs will be solved) the production line moves forward with the next project and so on, since currently there are 4 3d devs aboard, each one is responsible for it´s current project until it gets into the coding phase which leads to the open beta stage and so on. For the M2000C it has been a 3 years process, our realistic goal is to release 2 modules per year, and to do so, we have assembled a very talented and proficient team, the learning curve has been steep, but we are right where we need to be. Having said that, currently there are 2 projects moving ahead with one in the verge of start (Alejandro´s, gathering all info on the subject), at the same time there are 2 projects waiting for new DCS tech to be available in order to move forward.

I give you all this info, based in our "open skies" policy and to eliminate any perception of "vaporware" being shown by us.

Thanks for reading

Please tell me there is a LTV A-7 Corsair II somewhere carefully tucked away in that big red line up there... :)

F-15E, A-6 and A-7 are the aircraft with AG radar that Razbam have hinted so far. But latest they have said on matter, while kind of vague, left me with an impression that Strike Eagle and Intruder. I may ve wrong, and I hope I am. While I am very interested in all 3, A-7E & D is the one I prefer first personally :). In any case, we won't see any of them before the F-18 gets to early access stage, so we probably are a bit too early speculating on these.

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

F-15E, A-6, A-7, AV-8B Plus and other aircrafts that have AG radar capability are waiting for DCS' support for AG radar.

Yes but is there any idea / Plans in roughly what order they will be released in after we have the AG radar Support.

Will they all be worked on side by side or will some be a bit more focused (or are already further along)

It just feels a bit strange if the A-6 and AV-8B+ would come before the A-7 as we have heard about it for so long while the A-6 and the AV-8B+ were announced pretty recently.

And for me the A-7 is the aircraft i look the most forward to of all the DCS aircraft in development (Not just from Razbam but over all).

But i trust you guys so if you guys are saying it will be made sooner or later i will trust you guys.

Though i would lie if i said i would not prefer it to come out sooner ^^.

Same Here. It's basically an A-10 focused on bombs and High speed Low altitude (if 550 kn can be considered high speed :P), yet it can load up Mavericks and Rockets and destroy the crap out of anything that threatens the advance of friendly forces. Then you can load up HARMs and CBUs and shove some death down enemy AA's throat. Then you can load harpoons and sink some ships. It's a wonderful little SLUF.

It's also the only aircraft the USAF other tha the A-1 that could do the job of the A-10. And they gave it to the ANG because they didn't like attack aircraft. Because LOL.

I hope that with multicrew they also do the A-7K. Would love to bring a friend along for some murderfying

A-7 can't use Harpoons or any AGM-84.

Well there are multiple accounts of A-7s launching AGM-84Es during the gulf war.

(The AGM-84 SLAM being a Air launched Air-ground cruise missile variant based on the AGM-84 harpoon)

So while ive never heard of it carrying the anti-ship types (as that was up to the A-6 and later the F-18)

It seems to have been able of carrying atleast one AGM-84 variant.

just to put some perspective into this

The A-7E/D exterior is ready for DCS compilation, there is no edm yet, but the sources are ready (sans other stuff to make it really a module) and cockpits are 90% ready on both types BUT as of right now, we are focused in the AV-8B NA and the Tucano and soon into the M-III

And how's the F-15E project?
