FAQ: VEAO Typhoon for DCS World

they also said the 3D external and cockpit models are now complete during the october update :P But we're not getting a little sneak view because some guys had to ruin it for the rest :(

I'm consoling myself that what would be a line of updates about the typhoon is instead becoming another line of code towards it

Typhoon

Work is well underway with my beloved Tiffy and we're making good progress on the digital displays.

Right now we are working on our "demo" version of the aircraft until such time as the new external and cockpit 3D model are complete.

Not quite what we said but none the less...

More info will be given in the monthly updates, but more significant updates and reveals will be done when the product gets to Pre-Sale

Hello everyone.

I saw this project was underway and I couldn't help but register to express my excitement. My daily job is avionics tech for BAE on Typhoon. I've only been fortunate to fly the sim once so far, but I look forward to being able to give her a spin (off the ground for once).

Cheers.

Bout time

Hello theres.

Since 1984 i started flying flight sims whenever the question comes witch is the best, most pleasurable, plane or flight simulator i came across i have to answer off course Falcon 4.0, and F/A18 Interceptor since they kept me flying for an extremely long time. Now i found DCS i feel this has the potential to change. So i stumbled on this threat here. F2000....... OMFG i think to myself. This is an awesome prospect. But why?

First of all there was a Simulator called EF2000. It had a campaign set in Scandinavia and to put it simply it had two very distinct features i would love to see in DCS. One is the SUPERB idea to make a campaign in Scandinavia. Flying low and fast through Mountain, Fjords, glaciers, skip from Sea to mountain views in seconds, rough weather and an extremely good pleasurable dogfight mode.

In a TOP rank simulator like what DCS appears to be (only flew some training so far) a plane that has all the possibilities a EF2000 has seems to be a bit out of place though. The Su27 and F15s are its primary rivals ofc but keep in mind that in RL testing it has been proven that a EF2000 can take 4 F15s with its METEOR out before the Eagles have even a chance to get within launching capability.

If by any means this should work by any degree we ought to have a campaign with rivals that can equal or best this baby. Be it Su35s, MIG29PUKs, F16 Adv, F35s, or even F22s or Su T50 PAK-FA. You know..... that high tier opposition we all wish for and in my best of all my wet dreams, a campaign placed in Scandinavia. (or the Aegean at a close second.)

That being said i must confess that i definetly would buy a a module of the EF2000 providing it is at least partialy as good as the F16 in the Falcon 4.0.

I say that because i must admit that the free Su25 is a bit oversimplified for my taste, i hope the planes in the modules i wish to buy (Su27-F15-A10) are better.

Happy Landings guys

What you want to look at are the DCS modules! DCS:A-10C not(!) the FlamingCliffs A-10A!

The UH-1H if you are into Helicopters...

To get an idea about the difference between DCS level and FlamingCliffs level, try the free TF-51D. Full clickable cockpit, all instruments, buttons and avionics doing as their real life counterparts. Plus a complex realistic flight model that computes actual behavior from wind air pressure and other simulated environment variables rather than simple calculation tables. A complex modeling of electrical and fuel systems, avionics and weapons computer is what seperates DCS level modules from the competition.

I suggest you have a look at some Startup/Takeoff tutorials etc. on YouTube, preferable for the DCS: A-10C to get some impressions and directions what this Sim is capable of.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I very sincerely doubt that statement. In any case, even if it were true, DCS is (mostly) a full simulation environment. Balance doesn't enter that much into the equation. For example we have the Mig21 and the M2000C which don't have much chance against either the F15 or the Su27 and yet people still fly them, and enjoy them. Some are even deadly with them online.

Yep, the correct statement would have been: the Tiffy can theoretically fire a barrage of METEORS before the F-15Cs can get in firing range and force them to go defensive or even take one or two out.

In the end it all depends on multiple factors how a fight is developing.

Even the most sophisticated sniper rifle won't help against a thug with a knife, if you have heavy gusts of crosswind and the guy manages to get in stabbing range...

Never underestimate or belittle your enemy! Always respect and consider his abilities, and possible advantages.

Many people got killed by overconfidence and underestimating their enemies capabilities, though on paper they had better equipment, better training and the advantage of surprise.

well i doubt that this tiffy being modeled will have meteors =P...

Nr1 the meteor is not even in service yet... and the first nation to use them probably wont be the RAF (Sweden is most likley gonna be the first nation to field them due to the fact that much of the meteors testing was done on grippens)

Nr2 the Eurofighter being modeld is an early one so even if the meteor was in service that eurofighter model would not be able to use it...

So the Eurofighter will have Aim-120s and Asraams (and possibly Aim-9 and or Iris-T)

Being an expert camper in ARMA3 I can deny the above. Crosswind has no effect on the bullit if the opponent is within stabbing distance because... science! :-D

In Arma (and other Computer games) the reality of a 2kg 1,4m long rifle and its inertia is not, or poorly modeled, as well, as the facts of exhaustion, muscle spasms etc.

In real life a sniper won't win that fight, and wind gusts in between when the bullet is underway would spoil the shot. When the guy has been missed and he moves erratic he is harder to hit.

The whole analogy should simply remind of the fact, that just having the "better weapon" does not necessary mean you win in RealLife.

Things as environment, erratic behavior or pure luck, often had a bigger impact on outcomes of a fight, than one would have expected. :D

With the introduction of DCS level radar for example, the old Arma-like equation "Sniper(F-15C) kills armed gunman (Mig-21) because it has the better radar system" might be different in a M-2000C vs. Mig-21 head on. Both radar get interference by clouds, both need to filter ground clutter... In theory the Mig-21 is "inferior" to the Mirage, yet it should never be in a position to kill an F-15C, but we see this happen regularly on servers, against all odds. Why shouldn't a Mirage or Mig-21 not be lucky and maneuver behind a Typhoon unnoticed and get a hit?

Good tactics, a bit of luck, a favorable approach, that's all it needs, to beat an overconfident opponent. ;)

However, bring that long rifle to bear on the enemy, before you get stabbed, is a different matter. :P

If I was a country I'd want Eurofighters and A-10s as my airforce. I love them both.

What are you going to use for in air refueling??! :D

I would add a few more aircraft types.

Hey everyone,

I'm a new DCS flyer (coming from BMS), and this is my first post on the forum... I'm writing it here because the Typhoon from VEAO is the main reason I decided to give DCS a try, since it's my favorite 4th gen plane by far. I'm looking forward to a realistic flight model and avionic implementation of this fighter, up to BMS F-16 standards, and if there's someone who can do it, apparently it's VAEO (been lurking your forums for a while). So... I wish you the best in developing this module, I can't wait for it to be ready! Open beta can't come too soon! I already bought the Hawk to support you guys

P.S. Will you also release an Italian Air Force livery? I'm Italian and I'd love to fly in it.

Welcome to the forums Danidr and many thanks for your support.

Yes we will have all participating country liveries and have a proffesional flight model.

Thanks,

Chris.
