I was only able to try out Nevada a few minutes ago before I leave for work in the morning (it was downloading overnight). Please leave this poll up for a few days so I can vote intelligently. Thanks!

I have voted on 2.

The map has nothing to do with WW2 aircombat of 1944. We don't even have planes to fly with over desert trying to to simulate Africa 1941-43. I am waiting for Normandy.

The map is also too expensive to justify its purchase. It costs nearly as a AAA game and it exceeds the price of a AAA game in my country (120PLN vs 201PLN). I don't see the justification of value for the price.

I prefer realistic scenarios, so I voted for the 3rd option, mainly because of Normandy. For the two current maps I think that the BS map might be a bit closer to an authentic WW2 environment, but I can also imagine afrika missions in NTTR.

What is more important than the map is the actual mission design.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Caucasus map offers more options than NTTR, so I voted No.2.

(although already have NTTR)

I may or may not get Normandy when it comes, but won't be getting NTTR myself. So I'd prefer most servers to have a Caucasus map available. I didn't vote because there is no option for I don't have it and I won't have it. Anyway, I don't fly online much, so take my opinion for what it is: just voicing of opinion :).

I want a full WWII theatre of course, but IMO it doesn't matter the map while we're waiting. I'm not flying quite much lately for various reasons, but in a regular basis I won't wait and miss the experience of these warbirds just because where I'm flying.

So Kuban map is a WWII scenery :smilewink:.

Why not ... just use the empty area in the NW portion of the map where there are 2 airfields and nothing in between. Its not like we're currently using a map where the Dora, Mustang, and K-4 saw any activity to begin with for those "strictly realist". It may be another year or more before we see the Normandy map so hopefully some servers run desert missions from time to time.

Can we set boundaries on the map? If so, that would indeed be rather cool.

Voted 2 as I am waiting for Normandy map and have no interest at all in Nevada for goodness sake!

As a WWII enthusiast I am feeling like the poor relation to the more modern fast jet community at the moment.

I, and many squad mates and fellow WWII flyers that I am trying to convert to DCS are not seeing much reason to rush into action with DCS yet.

We live in hope that WWII is going to be shown to be deliverable.

I have stopped any interaction with DCS at the moment, apart from the forum, because everything is in a state of flux and somewhat confusing. When can we expect some sort of public release for the next stage of either v1.5 or 2 that does not include the Nevada map and what are the options for WWII focused groups who want to fly decent public release MP maps and servers?

My P51D is mothballed at the moment pending a more stable, inclusive and equitable product across the board.

No pain no gain as they say, so I am waiting and trusting in DCS for now. I am hoping that in the future DCS will be 'the' place for the best WWII experience, just like it appears to be for more modern fast jet action now.

Happy landings,

Not that I know of but the Groom Lake AFB and Creech AFB would be perfect for WWII combat. Small airfields about 10 minutes apart with nothing but open/mountainous terrain that I'm sure we can find some type of Algeria/Tunisia missions to throw in there. It will be up to server operators as some are more open to different mission types than others but I'm pretty tired of looking at the Caucasus map at this point.

I voted 3, but it's really not my answer, because you haven't asked the question correctly.

I've per-purchased NTTR, so that's not a question for me. I'll also fly WW-II missions on it, because... why not? Besides, the landscape will be new and purdy after all the time in the Caucuses.

However, I'm still looking forward to a Europe map with WW-II era airfields and equipment, which I will definitely also acquire, no doubt about it.

So, that's my answer :)
