Something I don't really anderstand. DCS 2.0 is alpha so far. So I would'nt be upset if Mirage 2000 was released today with a few possible bugs...in 2.0 only.

release it today as " alpha" in 2.0 only and next week as beta in 2.0 and 1.5 and everythings sounds professional and good.

Well.. Didn't Razbam say their plane had been ready since monday. That's what i heard anyway..

EDIT:

Also, why do we allow SFM then? Is that really considered "proper standards"?

They also said they "released the last version (they were hoping) yesterday", which means there have been corrections since Monday and the delay was necessary.

I perfectly understand why ED prefers to make sure everything is ready for a beta release, they don't want to get flooded by bug reports coming from non-beta testers, which is very difficult to handle (just looking at this very thread confirms it).

As for a specific date, it's also very hard to say when a product is in QA. There never was a promise of a specific day.

Guys, you should calm down a bit, and take opportunity of those holidays to have some fun instead of living in the forums bitching about a mere beta release. Seriously :)

Then it makes more sense to delay it..

Well, for me it only means... Back to iRacing and Squad! :D

Have a nice holiday, im going to back off a bit :P

Well, after some coffee and a brief break from the forum, I feel like a few things are evident about all of this. We are all very passionate about this game and aviation by extension, which makes us all really awesome ;). We are all VERY excited about Razbam's awesome new aircraft, and that I am sure ED is just as passionate about all of that as the consumer base is. It's a week until Christmas (in the US anyways) and as one gentleman noted earlier, a lot of places have already closed down for the holidays. So I am grateful that ED will work on releasing it to us through next week. We have an awesome community, an awesome software company (ed), and awesome 3rd party devs that I am grateful for, because without this series there would not be anything for me to flight sim in. Thanks to all parties involved and lets embrace some holiday spirit while we wait :)

Well, not everybody unterstadn the politics of ED but we must respect it, I was polite, expresing my opinnion, now we need to wait for next week, the good thing is that it will be very polished

Okay Folks. I understand that you are upset with ED's "Next Week" announcement instead of a hard date.

But the problem is that not even ED knows when it will be ready for release. Only that it will be some day next week.

ED is not only responsible for releasing the M-2000C. They are responsible for other stuff, like updates to 1.5.2 and 2.0.0. Updates to other modules as well. And it takes time to get a release ready, specially since it involves creating/updating installers.

ED will have to create new installers for 1.5.2 and 2.0.0 that include the M-2000C. And those do not get made in one hour. They take days. Specially since the installer itself is over 9 Gbytes of data. So let's cut some slack on that part.

As for the testing, well they want to make sure that our aircraft pass their quality requirements. We are certain that it does, but they follow the motto "trust but verify". So they will test and see what problems will come out, and so far there are minor bugs, and if nothing major appears they will give the green light for release.

It is a beta, they know it is a beta. They just want to make sure that our definition of beta and theirs is the same.

I am confident that it will pass muster and that it will be released as soon as possible. I hope that it will be on Wednesday, so that you can fly that beautiful aircraft on Christmas.

Go to the products page and see how many modules are still in beta... Some of them have been in beta for more than 1 year.

I was referring to ED, not 3rd party devs. Once things are in ED's hands and get released to the testers, they get released very quickly thereafter. Look at patches to 1.2 for example. They get released to testers quickly, then go out as open beta, then release version in the space of a week.

My point is their testers/QA are pretty quick at finding issues, and thorough enough that Betas rarely have issues that delay release. Now that the M2000C is in ED's hands, I am certain they will have it ready to go as quickly as is possible.

However we can read "DCS: M2000C" and not "M2000C for DCS" as said before if i remember well. It will be an high quality module for sure, so we can wait some more days.

It's the first time i'm so excited for a DCS module.

Would be good if you just tell us this before it gets pushed forward, because it sounds like there was zero chance of it coming out before the weekend. We have no clue how ED do things, and they don't communicate with us.

If you see everyone hyping about it coming out wednesday/thursday/friday, just say 'no it's not'. Easier for everyone.

That's a reasonable request - all devs should take that to heart.

Yep. Time to unsubscribe from this thread.

I'd subscribe to it just the day before release. Not that my advice will help you decide which day that will be of course.

However, one thing we can be sure of, all those predicting the release - well they got it wrong! :music_whistling:

Really, all that needs to happen is for everyone to just wait until ED announce it's release. Why on earth would anyone send out messages saying "not yet".

Frankly, the levels of sanity on this thread have scraped new lows! Very entertaining though. I have been riveted to this for the last two weeks. Hilarious!

Because we were working with mid december still, and they also were hyping it up with teaser images. Including the 'last teaser image this week boys' post. Which had pretty obvious connotations at the time it was posted.

But when they submit the beta plane to ED on Thursday, then it needs to go through QA, then it takes 'several days' to build an installer, it's clear that it never was going to be this week.

With the info we had it was reasonable to expect this week, but it appears to never have been an option. That is why it would have been nice to have a 'not yet guys'.

It's fine, that's the way it is. Just I don't see why this couldn't have been said sooner.
