On or Off?

Some one says if you set it Off, somehow you'll get rid of stutters?

I have had hyper-threading disabled all the time before but after overclocking to 4.6 i got these small stutters on Nevada and CPU really struggling with the map. After enabling hyper-threading in bios the stutters is gone and I have also maxed out all settings and get frames 40 - 120 depending on situation. It can of course be something else also changed so I will test the hyper-treading disabled again.

Are you using pedals? (silly question I know) but if you are, which model of pedals are you using?

No m not using pedals, seems more like performance settings issue tbh

I have a gtx 980 ti and was a little surprised , seems if I turn down visibility and aa off it improves??

I know some are tired of me saying this...

8GB RAM is minimum for DCS, I would recommend upgrading to 16GB for a better experience.

In my experiments visibility range had a great influence on FPS.

I had stutter problems with a Zotac 980ti Amp extreme card. Had a constant slight jerking. Sent it back in the end and put in my old EVGA 980 is now smooth and frame rates seem just as fast. Strange exactly same rig ?

Guys, please, could you post a sample track?

So, we can replay and test on our systems.

Thanks.

You have a GTX 980ti but only 8GB ram? If you upgraded your RAM you would not have to compromise.

DCS 2.0 Nevada stutter help

Fair point u make and it's probably going to be my next job

I have been reading lots about vram vs ram for gaming many opinions and thoughts are saying that ram over 8 gb makes no performance gain in gaming?? Talking about PC ram here I mean

Is this not the case with DCS then?

Apparently

My opinion is 16GB for flight sims is a must, there is a lot more going on compared to " games "

DCS specification clearly states the minimum and recommended spec to be used.

but anyway, having a very nice gpu like the 980ti and not having 16gb RAM is selling yourself short :)

Minimum system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i3; RAM: 8 GB; Free hard disk space: 60 GB; Video: 2 GB RAM card, DirectX11 - compatible; requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 16GB; Hard disk space: 60 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 / ATI R9 290 DirectX11 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

That depends. I've just upgraded from 8 to 16 and raw rendering performance hasn't changed at all, obviously.

However, my 2.0 finally doesn't need to use HDD swap file (in single player, 'cause in multi, this map can apparently eat ANY amount of RAM people throw at it), so the risk of heavy stuttering is almost zero now.

Truth to be told, 2.0+Nevada is the only application on my PC that swallows more than 3 + 8 (VRAM + RAM) and I was thinking whether doubling memory only for this single map would make sense. Decided to make myself a late Christmas present and did it though :D.

16Gb of Ram is a good amount... just get your ingame and VGA settings sorted out

Just a note of interest if i fly the nevada take off mission which is in the dark the stutters are back,

I have installed 20gb of 1600 mghz corsair vengeance memory and this has limited or no effect over my original 6gb 1600 mghz memory, so the 16gb must for this game seem wrong.

core i7 OC 4.2 and a GTX 980 ti 6 gb card + 20gb of memory and still DCS 2.0 Nevada stutters....frustrated ??

surely cant have to keep turning more settings down, depth of field is simple vis is med, shadows is med, theres something wrong somewhere im sure and it cant be hardware relayed totally

any more thoughts guys?? cant think how i can eliminate these stutters!!

DCS 1.5 does not have these issues on my system

I wouldn't say 16 is wrong, as it keeps Your system off using Windows swap file during Nevada missions, but rendering itself is a business between game code, CPU and GPU, more RAM won't help here much.
