openfalcon68
This is all such awesome work. Thanks so much. I had been wondering as to why the K4 variant was developed by DCS and stumbled upon info that little over 1500 of them were made and that left me wondering. Why so many few skins ? unless there was a standardized camo pattern implemented which results in so few variations of skins. Where do you folks get info for the skins and the artwork to come up with such beautiful work ? Thanks Manish

JST
I had been wondering as to why the K4 variant was developed by DCS If I recall correctly, the official reason was that it was the variant with most information concerning performance available. (But more goes into the "why" DCS WW2 was born in the first place.) And I do believe that. The G -models as a whole were a series of several large and small changes spanning over 2 years that include something a little too "old" for the DCS WW2 setting and something a little too convoluted to be accurately modeled. In general, a K-4 was just like the other one next to it. Most likely because it never got to the same point with the G -models with it's different variations. Not that the things I said above necessarily has anything to do with the documents ED has available to them, but I don't have a reason to not trust them. Some people didn't like this choice, and I personally would've found a G-14 to be more fitting to the scenario, but what's done is done, and we can only hope for more in the future. Why so many few skins ? unless there was a standardized camo pattern implemented which results in so few variations of skins. You are probably referring to this thread alone? There is definitely a lack of actual K-4 paint schemes presented, probably even if the theory above was true. Still, I'm not entirely sure where this statement is coming from. The K-4 alone had 4 distinctive camo patterns, and the colours used to coat these birds go way beyond that. What is even more interesting is that close examination of late-war birds shows the gradual collapse of the RLM and Luftwaffe as a whole, through simple camouflage applied onto aircraft! Ranging from simply not painting the whole wing under surface to save materials and man-hours to the bare minimum of coverage and using "whatever's available" to coat the aircraft. Of course, they're probably not as memorable as the US planes with their flash and show-off, even if a wide range of deployed German planes had a large amount of customization go into them. Alas, the photographs available of K-4's are limited to a very low three-digit range, with even good photographs definitely being lower, in the two-digit range. This limits the scope of work available, but should definitely offer a range fit for a video game. :P Absolutely there's more to come... Where do you folks get info for the skins and the artwork to come up with such beautiful work ? Personally, I can not give enough credit to Marc-André Haldimann and his Flickr account A fantastic and extensive source of 109 photographs online. But info also comes from books, websites, forum posts and personal study, curiosity driven by passion for the subject. /end hopefully not to OT rant P.S. And if you thought the skin offering for the K-4 was lacking, just wait for the Spitfire  My skins/liveries for Fw 190 D-9 and Bf 109 K-4: My blog or Forums. Open for requests as well. KIZIR_77
I would love to see someone make a JG-26 yellow nosed skin :D Hello, GT 5.0, I'm working on these two skins, perhaps they might correspond to your idea ... The work is based on the camouflage of the aircraft flown by G. Sprick in 1941 according to information I found on the web . For the 1940 version, with the yellow nose, I'm not sure at all it exists ... Anyway, they will soon be available in the user files of ED. Regards Edited April 6, 2016 by KIZIR_77 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
