bkthunder Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I have a day off after some time, and the sales are on so I have to get something :p The choice is: Mirage Gazelle (I know, not on sale but...) Hawk Yes, very different aircraft but bear with me: I want to get something that has a good realistic FM without big outstanding bugs. I want to get something which is not in a bad state of development / risking to get stuck in development for many months (or years..). So basically, I'm going to spend money and I'd like as much as possible to avoid that feeling of  I am quite anal about realism and flight characteristics, and also about the quality of the 3D and textures. Not so concerned if some weapons systems are still being fleshed out. So, what do you suggest? Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Zarma Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Gazelle 1st choice or Mirage if you don't want a chopper. Mirage hasn't it's INS working yet so hard to use it without planned route. On the other side,Gazelle already has a campaign and has very few bugs. Haven't the HAWK and from what I heard it has been in a beta stat for months. i9 9900k, 64 Go RAM, RTX 4090, Warthog HOTAS Throttle & Stick, Virpil AH64 collective, TPR rudder, MFD Cougar, Trackir 5 Pro, Multipurpose UFC, Alain Dufour's TEDAC and Oculus Rift S (when I want some VR), http://www.twitch.tv/zarma4074 / https://www.youtube.com/user/Zarma4074
Nooch Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I'd go for the Mirage. I'm sure the Gazelle is an awesome module too but right now it only has the HOT missiles which makes things a bit limited. The only module I wouldn't recommend is the Hawk... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
WinterH Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) I want to get something that has a good realistic FM without big outstanding bugs. Well with that, you disqualify all 3 since, they all have relatively new flight model releases, a few months at most. I am not bashing the modules with that, just trying to set straight with expectations regarding the 3 modules and their current flight models. Mirage's flight model is in constant development, and engine performance and turn rates are in flux, over performing here, underperforming there, but RAZBAM are pretty quick and constant at providing updates. Many of it's systems are also WIP, such as the radar, and INS. It is nice and enjoyable, but not quite bug free currently. Gazelle is just released, and is not even available on 1.5 stable branch yet. I have not yet been able to fly it, but from I see it seem an awesome module and will buy it when it hits 1.5 stable. There seem to be a lively discussion on flight model over Gazelle's forum, as is the rule of thumb with such things, some firmly believe it is spot on, other swear it is way off :). Hawk with it's EFM, like Gazelle, isn't available on 1.5 stable just yet, so yeah flight model is released pretty freshly, and there seem to be bugs VEAO are hunting about it. It also have some more systems programming to do, as well as introduction of it's proper weapons, in place of current placeholders. Edit : Although, it is the only one I don't currently have, from what I see, Gazelle seem to be most "complete" at the moment, and probably most enjoyable for the realism focused. Edited May 7, 2016 by WinterH Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script
some1 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) What WinterH said. All three modules are still in development and can't recommend any of them to a person who wants an aircraft without big outstanding issues. Edited May 7, 2016 by some1 Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
splash Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I'd buy the Mirage. I don't know if you have more helis, in my case I hace Huey, Ka-40 and Mi-8 and I'd prefer a fixed wing one. Gazelle is very limited in its current state (only HOT3) and Razbam is making a great job and maintaining a fluently communication with community.
bkthunder Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 I think the hawk is out of the game now, I already have the L-39 and the hawk can wait till it's all done and proved. I'm not overly excited by the mirage, but it's an iconic aircraft and I always liked how it looks. I wouldn't choose the gazelle as it's not close to my heart in any way to be honest, but I am really attracted by the amount of details and quality that they seem to have put in it, and the FM could present a new challenge. I had a discussion about the mirage FM in another forum, and back then it seemed like it was pretty far from realistic. This is the one big question I have about this module, also because dassault is very secretive about any data and I don't think razbam has any real pilot feedback... Schmidtfire Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Mirage 2000. No contest. Feels like Razbam know what they are doing. Good fps (optimized). Nice looking cockpit. Great and frequent updates loaded with stuff that are not easy or fast to program/implement. But if you can wait a few more weeks, the F-5E or even Viggen might be ready. All solid choices and day1 buy.
flying rabbit Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Better get the L39 than the hawk. Its very polished and well done. The FM is one of best in DCS.
agentdarnell Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Out of the three I chose the m2000. I like the idea of a 4th gen fighter in pfm. Eventually I will get the others as well. Maybe if they do the gazelle with Nevada again. Missed out on the combo sale. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

GeorgeLKMT Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 In parallel we continue to work on the F/A-18C Hornet. We are currently working on the cockpit and setting up its functionality. Later in 2016 we plan to release the Hornet as an “Early Access” product that will allow you to participate in early testing. ... ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■

bkthunder Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 I bought the Mirage. Too early to say anything other than the 3D model is great and the pit is also quite good (not the best texture wise IMO). It feels good so far, but with a few quirks ;) Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
