x52 3

1st normal flight controls

2nd close combat

3rd bvr

-the thing is to assign the most important things (look real plane) first

-and then to go for the often nessesary and quickly accessable things

in hot situations (workload)

the rest is personal

X52 here, 2 modes wich are actualy 2 sub profiles.

Mode1) F-15

Mode2)Su-27/33 Mig-29A/S/G

With the CH I got I only have 1 mode for all fucntions.

so we should consider 1 mode for you actually. I also use one , also becouse I only use saitek's throttle and there is no way to change mode from it...

X52 here, but only use 1 mode.

I never had the need for anymore buttons. Everything I need is mapped to the first mode on every single button. The majority of the keys are repeated and the same from A2A to A2G to even nav, I don't see why you would need pretty much 3 joysticks for each respective mode.

changing modes when you are absolutely in a hurry to respond to a threat will kill you.

Speed of reaction is key IMHO. Once fired upon or when you just seen a target pass the corner of the scope, every millisecond counts.

I made my profile in a way I only need the press of 2 buttons, 1 on the stick and another on the throttle. Each button with a finger on top of it ready to react, only secondary functions, or less frequently used get to be on shifted commands or those buttons that need to move a finger from where it is.

Mode 1 - Flight/combat/a2a/a2g/nav

Mode 2 - Engine start, taxi and takeoff

Mode 3 - Landing

That is for the Saitek throttle

Only one mode for the CH stick.

I use the keyboard quite a bit. I prefer the feeling of having to reach for some controls.

1. A2A

2. Nav/Land/Take-Off

3. A2G

I find this a fairly good setup for the 45, allowing me to easily fly the 15 or 10, plus I only need to move the switch one position.

I have one profile for the Su-25/25T that uses two modes, and one profile for everything else that uses 3.

25/25T:

Mode1-Nav/housekeeping

Mode2-Weaps Employment

Everything Else:

Mode1-Nav/housekeeping

Mode2-Weaps employment

Mode3- A-10 specific weapons employment

1, Nav

2, A2A

3, A2G

Same set-up here but I use CH

I only use 1 mode on my CH stick/throttle....as I only fly the 25/25T (occasionally a fighter but have shifted functions for that 'new fangled' thing called radar).

Also, a Touch-Buddy helps ALOT :D
