Hi,

this is something I'm working on, although it's used with Su-33 FM (because of the tailhook).

MF displays are hard coded and I can't make new ones to work but it looks great for all F/A-18C pilots out there:

WOW!

So how exactly does this work? It looks like it's a 2D texture image, or did you really model a 3D pit?! If you could at least get the HUD in the right position, it's right in the middle, it would be great!

That pit seems to be interily in 2D...hmmm how did you do it?

Im making a pit myself after block 15 OCU F-16A, because there arent MFD fuctions sofisticated enough in the game to porsue F-16C/MLU. All the gauges and radar modes should be that of another aircraft, but repositioned in this pit. I have found that pits work with arguments much the same way aircraft models do. Finding out what each does is going to be a painstaking job though. There are potentialy much more arguments in pits than any other models.

A number of the arguments can be easily researched by opening existing models. Kabina-Su-27.cmd has a few interesting ones.

It may be possible to replace any of the existing cockpits with more detailed ones, but more research (or an official argument list) is required.

I like how its photorealistic and not painted.

I'm not knocking your work .. it looks fantastic and I'm glad you are doing it. A question though ... is why is there a UNS Flight Management Computer under the HUD ? That's pretty much a commercial aviation thing isn't it ?

Man looks great! REspect to you. I have question. Is possibel somewhere to download clean teamplate for F-18? My teamate woul like to create some skins for F-18. Thats why I am asking.

I'm not sure about 3D here but I've noticed that zoom view doesn't work with this cockpit. Might be non-related issue, because I haven't edited anything in Config\view folder. I use both LOCFG and ModMan and they might interfere and create this issue.

I think of importing MFDs from A-10 and F-15 if it's possible, but not their MFD frames - only displays. I'm currently figuring out how to import and place them in F/A-18 frames (where they should be).

I'm not sure will this work at all because I work with Su-33 platform here and I'm not sure if these files can be assigned to it. I chose Su-33 because it's the only flyable with tailhook (just like Hornet).

This is accurate layout of Hornet's pit and it can be used as a shell for all active instruments that have to be taken from A-10 and F-15 (because of imperial units)

I had to edit original 33 (Naval Flanker's) pit and replace all of it's files. I used ModMan's CDDS browser to extract textures.

For instance:

One of the files that need this treatment is PRIBORY-MAINPANEL-33.BMP and I had to cut it into patches in order to replace them with new F/A-18 textures. Proper allignment and position is hard to get and 'Trial by error' is the only way to do it here. It's like making a puzzle :( so what you saw in previous screenshot is the best result so far.

I'm still far from finished here so contacting ED with unfinished (read: 'buggy') product may be too unprofessional to be taken for granted. If I 'stall' or run into some problems while doing this I'll ask ED for some info or advice

When I'm in beta testing phase (personally satisfied with all things in their place) I'll make ED's boys and gals know 'bout this one (if they don't run into this thread on their own)...

Cheers and thanx for the support!

Vedran.

Vekkinho, when you figure out stuff better make a list of arguments you figured out and how to implement intruments on the pannel.

One note for you: Im not sure if its possible to ut the displays anywahere on the space independently of the pit model. I think theres a chance that every intrument are seperate independent objects like flaps and ailerons are on the planes models. Each one then should have its argument assigned, but Im not sure of this. And I havent the time to try this out yet.

Venkkiho, it looks great! but can you zoom it out and take another photo of full f-18 cockpit ? Will you create a new f-18-kabina.cmd for the f-18 hornet mod based on the Su-33 ?
