DCS World Weekend News Update Discussion

It's great that they updated the terrain and airports BUT it is totally unplayable now for VR Worst hit to my frame rates since I was running a GTX 295!!! I think it is a combination of the new Oculus 1.10 runtime and the Nvidia drivers? The ASW function of Oculus is totally screwed up in DCS.

The newest nVidia Drivers are sooo Bad,

Theyh ave taken over the Tech News Outlets with how bad they are, surpassing the Exploding Note 7's.

Revert back a version and rejoice.

Ok, I have Nevada key, but was waiting for the proper merged release (2.5?) to use it. Now that 2.5 was pushed to 2017 and we got the NTTR update today, I would like to install this 2.0 alpha.

Can I use my modules in 1.5 and 2.0 in parallel without spending another activation?

Yes. License key data is stored in Win registry, so You can install as many copies & versions as You want and they'll detect which modules have been activated already.

My hope is that they added pillars that support bridges, and shadows that are also cast on bridges (instead of beneath them), continuous power lines, improved LOD for the power generators that used to pop-up only moments before one would pass them, more than only gray colored cars on the roads (up until now, all non-gray cars were only parking), etc. Stuff like that... :)

Of course, totally looking forward to the new NTTR map. Cannot wait!

1) Nope, road bridges still seem to 'float'. without supporting pillars, and shadows of crossing cars are cast underneath. The "spaghetti bowl' looks especially bad in that regard of shading (even though I only checked with flat terrain shadows enabled). :(

2) Power lines in areas where they were disconnected (e.g., west of LV Strip) are still untouched. :(

3) Didn't check.

4) Only gray cars are allowed to drive still; red and yellow cars are only parking... Also, dual-lane highways still have oncoming traffic on both sides... :(

However, seems a lot more details popping up left and right, new textures, grassy areas, perimeter fences around airports and construction sites, etc (even though the look of the fence textures seems to be of a lesser quality than the surrounding textures), beautifully detailed new airfields. Overall, great update!

Oh, and super smooth frame rates - seems to be a tad more optimized now.

May I ask what driver version you are running?and is it acceptable in 2.4 using VR? Thank You

Did anyone else notice the glare from various glass sources in the promo for the map expansion?

I noticed it in the video.... And it looks terrible. It just looks like a bunch of random camera flashes from random sources.

Skate - are you talking just about impact in relation to VR only; or impact in general with the latest drivers?

Loving the double fly-through hangers at Tonopah. Going to be some serious antics going on here...I actually made the F5 even though the tail was hitting......

Not about bridges casting shadows themselves; it was about vehicles' shadows are cast underneath the bridge, instead of on the bridge's surface. That was the case when NTTR was first released as well, and I hoped it would be corrected in this new version. Also, road bridges do not have any supporting pillars are seem to be suspended by magic. :) I still hope that this will improve... Railroad bridges are a lot better in that regard.
