DCS: AJS-37 Viggen Soundtrack

Does the soundtrack really matter? At all? I know I've said this before, but I was unaware that there was such a thing before I saw someone complaining about something soundtrack related either on the forums or on FB. It must be a gut reaction from the terrible background noise in LOMAC, but the first thing I do after reinstalling DCS is to mute the damn music. If people need some background music while messing around in the mission editor, why not use Spotify or something similar?

Of course is not adding anything to the flight model itself, but is a nice detail to think about. And frankly, knowing these guys, they pay attention to every single detail. It adds a little bit on top of the whole thing, think about it as a garnish in a meal.

yeah and they must have their own idea of what an appropriate soundtrack is then so why dont you all just leave them to it?

We don't mind! It gives us ideas, if not for the theme itself, then perhaps for trailers or stirs some other inspiration.

I had not heard the Svenska Liljor song-- great one!

 

Keep in mind, it's often budget that is the limiting factor in choosing or composing a song. Obviously Dangerzone or Mighty Wings would be awesome for the F-14- but the licensing cost, not so much. :)

FWIW, the Techno style music of the "Wedding Film" was freaking BA. I would love to see something like that as the menu music and would jam out to it all the time

I'm pretty sure you would abhorr what I had in mind for a soundtrack for the Viggen.

I love electronic music and that would be my choice to make for me.. But being forced to listen to a genre I personally dislike would give me a sour taste in my mouth.

I think it should be a kickass retro-electro track like the first teaser.

 

But then I also wish the MiG-21 music was the track from the MiG-21 trailer...

First time I saw that teaser I instantly got a feeling of recognition, that theme together with the Viggen.

I since believed I heard it in some information video regarding the Swedish Airforce or similar from the 80s and have tried to find it.

 

I realize now I was wrong, but it only proves that this theme is spot-on!

And I'm not even a retro-electro fan...
