cichlidfan Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 I thought I was rather saying it out loud. Just following your lead, though. :D (And I still have absolutely no clue how you managed to write over 3 times as many posts as I did, within a year less of membership on this forum ;)) :D I have been told that I talk too much for most of my life, so it follows that I would post too much as well. cichlidfan Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 LOL, that sounds like more good news. For the time being, at least. :D I should mention that I am very stubborn and used to walking a lot. In the past my normal day included about 3 to 4 miles of walking. I hate not being able to do that and I will get back to it soon. My dogs are missing their long walks and they are one of my reasons for wanting to progress. They are both dumb as posts but they are my children and most of what I do revolves around them. cichlidfan Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) I needed to make a post. That post count of 16,666 is bothering me for some superstitious reason. EDIT: I know this isn't the music thread, but this seemed apropos. Btw, if you look close, there are some very impressive drummers playing on the back of the stage. Of course, you have to draw your eyes away from the women. :P Edited December 21, 2016 by cichlidfan ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! cichlidfan Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) I have been surfing YouTube and I came across a video about Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band. It reminded me how lucky I am. While they don't work as well as they used to, all of my limbs are all still attached. I visit Arlington Cemetery at least twice a year (on my parents birthdays, since they are both interred there) but the reminder of all of those who have given their lives so that I could have mine makes me want to say thanks to all of you (and I know there are lots of you) that have served in the Armed Forces. Happy holidays to each an every one of you. :santa: EDIT: Btw, it does not matter where you live or whose military you served in. All of you make a difference in the lives of the rest of us. EDIT2: Yes, I get a bit maudlin these days. Sometimes that is good for the soul. cichlidfan Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Thanks. I will. This is the menu from where I will be having dinner tonight. http://www.zumrheingarten.com/menu_dinner.html The place is actually a house that was converted to a restaurant. I don't think it can seat more than 50 people. Everything is cooked fresh everyday and if you are not full when you leave then you did something wrong. Yurgon Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 This is the menu from where I will be having dinner tonight. http://www.zumrheingarten.com/menu_dinner.html Getting hungry already, that sounds really delicious. I keep hearing that "Chinese food" the way it's presented over here is pretty far from what people usually eat in China (same for "Thai", "Japanese" and so on). I wonder if the same is true for German food as served in the US. From what it says in the menu, it sounds like it could be served exactly the same way here. In any case, the beer they have available is a pretty good selection. :)

My understanding is that, at least in the US, the food on Asian restaurant menus would be considered special occasion or party food. It is nothing like what most people eat on a daily basis. As for the my dinner tonight. Yes, it is about as authentic as you could find in this country. The husband and wife that run the place came here shortly after WWII. I have eaten there at least a dozen times and the food takes me back to my childhood in Germany. EDIT: If you want a good idea of what real people eat in Asia and India, this channel is awesome. https://www.youtube.com/user/thefoodranger/featured Edited December 21, 2016 by cichlidfan ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! funkyfranky Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Happy birthday from across the pond from me as well! Enjoy your German dinner :) In any case, the beer they have available is a pretty good selection. :) Yurgon is absolutely right - really good selection of beers. Maybe they give you one on the house if you tell them, that it is actually spelt Radeberger instead of Radeburger Pils. Albeit, sometimes these remarks have the opposite impact ;) A warrior's mission is to foster the success of others. i9-12900K | RTX 4090 | 128 GB Ram 3200 MHz DDR-4 | Quest 3 RAT - On the Range - Rescue Helo - Recovery Tanker - Warehouse - Airboss
cichlidfan Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) Thanks. Yes, dinner was awesome, albeit, not cheap. Of course, my brother was paying so I did not mind. As for the beer, I am sure the selection is good but I am not supposed to consume alcohol anymore so I just watch other people and savor the aroma. EDIT: As for the spelling issue, I would not be surprised if the people that created the website were not German speakers so they may have 'corrected' what they saw as an error. My doc & therapist both claim I am too stubborn not to get better. I had to show them a picture of my sim pit to get them to understand that both hands and both legs are critical (to me at least, since I know of several flight simmers that are far more handicapped that I). I guess neither one of them knows a flight simmer because the response from both was something like "You have that in your house?" My response was, "Of course, and it has it's own room. Actually, the funniest reaction I have ever had to my sim gear is from the movers that relocated all of my crap to the new house last year. When the guy was looking over the stuff needing to be moved I explained that the chair and it's base were not coming further apart and they needed to be careful not to bend the frame. Keep in mind, the pit was disassembled by now so it was not obvious exactly what this 'car seat' was for. He looked at me and said 'That's a nice seat but I don't think I have ever seen one that wasn't inside of a car. What the hell is it for?'. I explained and showed him what all the parts on the floor looked like assembled and he just shook his head and promised not to break it (which they did not). EDIT: They really did do a good job of not breaking things. I had them move an HP Laserjet, full of toner ( I would have to have thrown the toner away otherwise) without messing it up. I just told them it has to stay close to level and the foreman said, " No problem, I will move it myself".
