Zaltys Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) one more week of nothing... +1 For those who are waiting for F/A-18C, it's a week of nothing. We are 1.5 month into 2017, and with every weekly update so far hope for Bug this year is diminishing. I think with such long development, busted promises and mishandled comms with community, there is no reason for optimism. Edited February 10, 2017 by Zaltys

Phantom88 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Wait!!! Nothing Stops The DCS Hype Train.....Get On Board!!!!! FROM WAGS..... Happy Friday everyone! Here are a few WIP images of the upcoming Normandy map. One of the big items we are working on now is populating the towns and cities to make them look more lived in. Cars, bicycles, carts, telephone poles, laundry hanging on lines, tractors, etc. We also have two different types of trains based on the year of the mission. Patrick
ED Team NineLine Posted February 10, 2017 ED Team Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) I think this is more likely the hype train you guys create ;) I am glad they are doing this, trying to make Normandy more useful for more modern missions as well... ED Team NineLine Posted February 10, 2017 ED Team Posted February 10, 2017 Remember too, that these shots are pretty vanilla, Matt is taking these without any weather of any sort, and generally without placing a bunch of units... they really come to life when you start adding these things. I think you guys will be really happy... and flying the channel in DCS is now checked off my bucket list :P Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
rjetster1 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 The majority here are extremely happy! Thanks for posting the great pics!!
Raven68 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I have to say that Normandy is looking awesome, but I do question Southern England. Yeah, adds a lot for Battle of Britain style missions and maybe even blitz ones although I don't know how far north the England bit goes. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

Raven68 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 It wasnt part of the original plan, but very soon in they knew it was something they wanted to do if possible, it adds so much more for Mission design. I can understand the desire and it does make sense to proceed with it. I think I read somewhere, and maybe I am wrong, that they were pushing for a Q1 early release. Does this push those plans back now or will it be the same approach as NTTR. Early release in Q1 and a massive update later in the year to include Southern England? Looking forward to the release. kontiuka Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 This is more about the change log but it was referenced in the news letter so ... The item "Su-27. Emergency brake handle added into cockpit". Is this just a cosmetic change or is there a functional parking brake now?
Bourrinopathe Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Afaik, they've just added the missing handle. There's no animation for it in the .edm cockpit model, and no specific binding in the controls options. /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///

hughlb Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 (edited) Can one of the mods shed any light on whether trees will be more optimised than in NTTR? There are a lot of dense forests in the Normandy map, especially in that last image. We get quite high fps drop with the forests in Nevada. Perhaps ED have figured out a better way to draw large amounts of trees? Great update nonetheless. Perhaps ED have figured out a better way to draw large amounts of trees? Great update nonetheless. I would love to hear as well, but it seems that ED is thinking about this issue based on one of their prior weekend updates: DCS World 2.5 Update In addition to the Hornet, NTTR, and DCS WWII tasks, another high-priority task for us is wrapping up DCS World 2.5. The primary function of 2.5 will be to combine both 1.5 and 2.0 into a single executable and thereby being able to access all maps from a single program. We are close with the last two big items being the resolution of how we will render forests and trees in 2.5 and updating some of the old objects to our current format. Once those two items are addressed, we will start releasing some new images and videos of what is in store. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2936445&postcount=55 With more and more pictures of Normandy posted recently, I'm hoping their is an update on these changes for 2.5 including the new lighting system. -Nick
