My order (dated 13-APR-2017) still has status "confirmed", no shipping notice received, no promise date... I'm not used to do business this way!

21 July 2017 // Announcement No. 18

► VPC MongoosT-50 Flightstick & Base Shipping Status

This week marked the start of the much anticipated dispatching of the VPC MongoosT-50 Flightsticks and Bases. The VPC team has been working around the clock to ensure we can get all existing pre-orders shipped out in a timely manner.

Unfortunately we must announce that a small error, but an error nonetheless, with the VPC MongoosT-50 gimbal from the factory has been discovered shortly after the first batches early this week were dispatched.

The issue is regarding the compression spring channel, which due to an error with the factory CNC software, it is 2mm narrower than intended. This caused some unpleasant noises to be produced during movement. This tolerance error had also affected the cam fixing points, which caused some unwanted movement (~0.1 to 0.15mm).

After discussions with the team last night, we have decided to recall the batches from the courier that went out earlier this week as we did not like the idea of our earliest and most supportive customers receiving anything but the newest and best revision of the VPC MongoosT-50 gimbal right out of the gate.

The necessary changes have been made at the factory early this morning and these problems have now been resolved. It has been agreed that the factory will now produce from today and over the entire weekend. The revised batch we will receive on Monday 24th will be large enough to cover all existing pre-orders and the VPC team will again be working around the clock to assemble, test, package and despatch all orders next week.

We understand wholeheartedly the frustration and disappointment experienced by some of our customers due to these delays. All of us at VPC apologise that it has taken much longer overall than anticipated to get the VPC MongoosT-50 Flightsticks and bases into everyone’s hands.

On top of the previously announced VPC dust cover gift, we will also be issuing a 10% discount coupon for all users who have experienced a delay with their pre-order. For any users who are still unhappy with the situation, we will issue a no-hassle complete refund, for any customers who do wish to receive a refund, please contact sale@virpil.com with your order number.

Thank you all for your patience and support!

Will you be sending out e-mails to those affected by this delay?

I would like to know wether to still hold my breath for a possible delivery in the next days or if I'll have to wait some more (not that waiting would be unusual in the realm of flightsims  ).

I second that, an email to those affected would be great. So to clarify, everyone is getting the corrected gimbal?

This delay effects everyone, as everyone will indeed be receiving the revised/corrected gimbal!

I have been absolutely assured by the team that everyone will have their VPC MongoosT-50 Flightstick next week. The entire batch will be reaching VPC HQ on Monday, when we will assembly, test and package up the first batch for dispatch on Tuesday morning. We will then continue despatching daily throughout the week.

Oh, alright never mind. :music_whistling:

Misunderstood you, thought only the very first batches were affected.

Still excited to finally receive my new equipment! :)

Ah! But yes, everyone was effected because we had to get all of our gimbals remade to correct the issue!

This has certainly been an interesting development.

Must have been quite a scramble to get all those sticks that were shipped out on Monday returned...

They hadn't been processed through customs yet, so it was fairly easy for us to get them returned. A return to sender request is standard fare though, so couriers are usually quite good at responding to these sorts of things thankfully!

Hey guys great spotting. Don't mind waiting abit longer. Better you sported the issue now rather than later. Great quality control and will definitely still buy your products in the future.

Hi FraserNZL, thank you! It was certainly very frustrating for us when we spotted this error, but we're glad we caught it when we did.

Your support is much appreciated!

You guys were originally going to ship at the end of May. That didn't happen because you had to redesign the base and gimble.

Then you guys were going to ship July 1st. That didn't happen until later because more reasons.

Now you're telling us that the base has to be fixed again? Noise when you move a stick is a very obvious problem that even the most basic QA should have caught.

I don't see how anyone can stick with this order besides blind optimism.

I simply don't understand why anyone would order from a start-up, a start-up catering to a niche customer base and expect *EVERYTHING* to go off without a glitch. I keep watching this thread because I may pull the trigger on these guys. They may have missed the ship date but they have been very up front about it. I mean Rift slipped their date. Apple slipped.

Nothing about these guys would make me hesitate about ordering. But then, maybe I'm just patient.

If it was easy there would be a lot more players in the market. The stick top is great. The desk mounts are quality , I am happy to wait for another quality product.

Well please bare in mind it's a 2mm tolerance error, the noise isn't consistent and it's actually a testament of our QC team's thoroughness that such a small/inconsistently obvious manufacturing error had been spotted.

Blind optimism is not required. We are not forcing anyone to continue with their pre-order as we completely understand if anyone would like to cancel their order.

Think positive mate. At least they are honest with us

Thanks for the support guys, it's much appreciated from the whole VPC team

We've certainly learnt a lot from this, so for future product launches we'll be handling things much differently.

I will continue to be patient. I understand it's a small and young company and they have to learn. I have to say though: a 2mm deviation from specified diameter is a huge deviation for this type of mechanics. It means that QC probably did not check the measures but just tested the stick in operation. Checking all the dimensions should be the first step before any operational test. Late discovery of the deviation is causing a lot on non-value-added work which means loss of margin and possibly loss of revenue.

I hope this team learns!

The deviation was within the channel for the axis compression spring. The noise caused by this "huge" deviation was not consistently obvious and in some instances wasn't apparent at all. It was only after a thorough QC check by our team that revealed this error.

The factory had agreed fault to this error and is now why they are working throughout the entire weekend to rectify this.
