Am I crazy? Is the A-10C learning curve too steep for first plane?

In my case, i did it like this su25t>Flaming Cliffs3(su33>su27>f15)>mig21-bis>uh-1h huey>A10c and im still learning the a10c.

For me,the mig21-bis is harder than A10C:( But the mig21 is More interesting:megalol:

I learned the KA-50 first, then the A-10C, the A-10C isn't really that hard to learn, just hard to set up the controls on the HOTAS initially, and memorizing what the hat switches are called, after that, doing the tutorials and youtube makes it pretty easy...

well i love both of them.appearance wise both mig and a10 are really beautifull (only the pak fa looks better imo). And that red lighting inside the cockpit on a night time mission, it gives me the chills man^^ Systems wise i dont have a problem with a10 just need to keep reading and practicing, on mig i really hate the radar and that ecm pod( cant remember its name). I do suck at these systems, cant use the radar properly ( its either a bug or bad coding or maybe i just suck at it:d).

weird thing is just before i bought the mig, in every video of it people were saying that it was a pain in the ass landing it. I ve never broken a landing gear with it or flatten a tire with it. Ive even landed it pretty much perfectly on my first try. On the other hand it took me 3 days of practice to learn landing a10c properly and i still flatten a tire or two with it 1-2 times out of 20.

Ps: i really dont get why majority of the people here think a10 is ugly, i really like it. I get the part that a10 is not as slick as a modern fighter but this is like the difference between beautifull thin girl and a beautifull chubby girl. both of them are sexy in their way.

tbh, i dont think anything is "hard" to learn in this sim. Its just that some of them takes more time to learn cos of the detail level.

I don't just like it, I love it! But it is ugly. Gotta be a reason the pilot community prefers to call it "Warthog" over "Thunderbolt" :P

cant force someone to like something i suppose^^ still that being sad i can see your point

I would stick with the A10C back in the day we didnt have a choice although I do enjoy the Hawk. I was doing my real world pilot training so it was really nice to take a break from flying a cessna 172 in FSX to jumping into the hog, doing the start up from memory taxi out and do countless circuits of Bantumi. I eventually learned how to fire off mavericks without having to do live pause. I never learnt how to shut down after landing and many of the other systems such as laser guided bombs etc. but I will one day. I wish they would do a single prop trainer like the tucano or even a steam driven cessna - Id probably stop flying FSX all together. I feel DCS was as instrumental as FSX in getting me my pilots licence. Warthog HOTAS, rudder pedals and Track IR all helped make it real !

I'm not fully attracted to the aircraft I am flying, but I do love her. I find myself looking at other aircraft when we go out flying together and I feel horrible because I know I feel unsatisfied sometimes.

A part of me however is feeling like I'm being overly superficial because when it comes to our personalities, we are so compatible, we laugh at the same things, we have similar views on things and we just really love spending time together shooting stuff up with the GAU 8. We are goofy together and I really like that.

for example, if you tried landing with su25t instead of a10c you wouldnt need to use the systems that will guide you to the airport because su25t has simplified systems modelling. A10C on the other hand, has advanced system modelling which means you need to use and adjust the navigation systems that will guide you to that airport.

Lol I can barely do that. Just fly VFR and learn the basics first.

It was my first module. But because it was all that was available back then certainly fixed wing. I muddled through it. The training missions in my view are the best way to learn. And I got to a good level of understanding with it. Able to deploy all weapon types countermeasures etc. Sounds a lot but once learnt even if I leave it for a few months then go back to the A10 after about an hour I'm back to the level again. Plus once you learnt a complex aircraft some of the less complex aircraft will not have such a steep learning curve. In short I'm glad it was my first module. May be wrong here but I'm guessing learning the A10 will put you in good stead for the F-18 as some of the mfd pages may be similar or have a similar way of working.

The A-10C is a great module, one of the best imo along with the Mig-21.

Me and my friend finally decided to learn to use the A-10C a few days ago, after about a day of flying we got most of the basic systems down pat and we are working on more complex systems.

You can learn the basic systems really quickly (start-up, using mavericks, dropping gbus and dumb dombs, etc.)

Of course even the basic things like dropping gbus goes even further in-depth and will take more time to learn.

So far the hardest thing for me to learn is the navigation.

This module is great despite the learning curve, it's one of the most enjoyable aircraft to fly.
