Shaman Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Sweet that fixed it. Now i can have a better look at the canopy. Here's a better comparison from the layout, old model, and new model (in order) This should illustrate my point better, see how the nose is curving near the nose and near the canopy and how the glass canopy has the "hump" on the top. Those are the tweaks i would like to see. So far so good. Isn't the pilot way too much bowed in new 3D model (compared to old one), instead of resting his back (+head, neck and shoulders) on pilot's seat? Also the seat alone looks bended forward compared to original and that blueprint I guess. Just a thought. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
pho3nix Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I agree with shamandgg about those tweaks, should not be too dificult to implement. This model looks so awsome and is only going to get better! I was wondering if it is posible to animate the pilot as a function of view position as when iam flying I often grab the handles infront of me to get a bit of leaverage to look behind (orany thing that doesnot say 'dont grab' for that matter). When looking right i even have to change hands on stick some times. I have seen this done in some fighter clips on patrics aviation, especialy the high aspect bfm hornet video. Just an idea but i think that it would add a further 'human' element to the sim, a bit of animation on the pilots side. (yes iam aware that this mainley occurs during high G manouvers but it is still relevent at 1 G)
SuperKungFu Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Yea you’re right the pilot seat needs to be slanted back more. I remember reading that the chairs are designed that way to battle pilot fatigues. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
AJ.eightFive Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Ok, don't hate me for suggesting such a fine detail but... one thing that bothers me is looking back and seeing the razor thin edge of the intake ramp. I hope you can add 2 or 3 more poly's to this area to give it some depth. In the old model, and in your model as it stands, the unrealistically thin ramp makes me feel like I'm flying a paper plane.
ViperEagle Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 The F-15 seat is indeed angled somewhat too far forward. The F-15's seat is angled at 15 degrees. You can see that in this diagram: And in this photo: Note the posture of the pilot in relation to the seat- The Seat is angled so that it's not totally vertical, but it's also nowhere near as angled back as the F-16's. Hope this helps!
ViperEagle Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Also, hopefully this will help. As current, the intake ducts are blank. On F-15's there is a transition of grey paint, which is flat, to gloss white paint right back to the turbine face. Do you plan on putting "animated" turbine faces on your F-15 model? or perhaps higher detailed "static" turbine faces. And on the other end of the engine, would it be possible to enhance the detail on teh burner cans? as seen here? There's no such thing as too many polygons Walmis! I'd love to see a super-detailed model!
F l a n k e r Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Well, this is an F-14 air intake, but I think the F-15 air intake system have got a similar arrangament of the internal shock wave ramps, more inside the duct though. If someone got a better image...
Deadman Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Well I may be wrong but all the information I have seen list the F-16 ACES II ejection Seat at a 30 Degre angle and the F-15 and A-10 ACES II ejection seat at a 15-degree angle, as shown in the attached diagram. The ACES II that you have in the picture and diagram is the configuration for the F-16 with the ejection pull handle located in between the legs of the pilot. The www.ejectionsite.com shows a picture of the F-15 style that is the same as the line drawing at the bottom of the page with two activation levers located out side of the pilot’s legs So far the Model looks great compared to the Line drawing I have keep up the great work and thanks https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

AJ.eightFive Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Noticed today... I noticed that Tatti's fuel tank for the F-15C does not dissapear when entering cloud unlike the aircraft itself. Walmis, if you modelled your F-15C with the same material perhaps we could do away with this problem and finally have a way of penetrating IMC in close formation like we should be able to! Also noticed that the canopy is VERY bright at dusk/night time. Looks very out of place. I'll post some screenshots momentarily.
GGTharos Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Walmis, the anti-collision lights (yellow stripes) are not visible in MP :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
