PicksKing Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) I thought this is well known already before the release of win10. You can believe there are more than commercial purposes and if the apparent product seems to be for free then maybe something else is the real product ;) But this is no reason to go back to win7. There are many tools which can block all these functions or even any connections to any microsoft URL. This should block any automatic stuff which happens without your knowledge (including updates) but of course you will never be completely save. If big brother casts his eye on you, there is no other way but unplugging. So use these tools and if you have very private files then get a second computer which is always offline and/or switch to linux. BTW a few weeks ago I saw a photo of Mark Zuckerberg in the labs or offices of facebook. Beside him was a notebook with a webcam masked with tape. So if even somebody like Mark Zuckerberg takes such preventive measures then maybe maybe maybe there are some good reasons for this. So if even somebody like Mark Zuckerberg takes such preventive measures then maybe maybe maybe there are some good reasons for this. Or maybe he is just paranoid. ;) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Abburo Posted April 6, 2017 Author Posted April 6, 2017 This time is an official statement listing everythig is transmitted. Is this good for us? No because of privacy data.... And yes because overall stabillity and compatibility is now increased. Google is doing the same... At least now we know exactly and we can take some measures. MikeMikeJuliet Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Wee it has been like this for years. If one really wants to keep one's information to oneself, then better stop using all social media and PC:s altogether. And start using physical money only... In short, these things are unavoidable. When it comes to free platforms, we, the users, are not the customers. We are data sources and companies that place ads using target demographic info are the customers. There are tutorials on how to disable telemetry on win10, but that requires more than just running ShutUp10 or other 3rd party softwares. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet DCS Finland | SF squadron
wash_hoban Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 You do realise even if you try to stop your PC connecting to MS by using DNS blocking ...... ..... that MS embeds a lot of MS addresses / IPS into the DNS service ? Still rockin Windows 7 64bit
Necroscope Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 And what makes you believe that this statement shown complete list? Even I'm able to imagine at list 3 statements in EULA and 5 solutions which allow me to use a lot of data above this list over all user-created telemetry-blocking tools. If you are not paranoid - doesn't mean somebody not watching you. :) Всех убью, один останусь!
OnlyforDCS Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 That list includes many things that can be turned off before Win 10 even starts installing. Until the "mandatory" security update turns them back on, without even notifying you it's doing that. ;) Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
