Hi guys!

I'm in the process of building my second gaming-rig, mainly for flight simulator use.

I'm completely new to flight sims, and I'm curious about the following: Would you recommend Track IR or multiple monitors for DCS? I know I could do both, but just to be a bit more cost efficient, I'll start with one of the options and expand later if I feel the need.

Track IR Yes for sure. You can always add the other 2 monitors later.

Keep in mind Nvidia cards resolution has to be the same across all monitors

ATI not so much

+1 .. I´ve had triple monitors and headtracking, and yes, the latter is more useful.

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

A TrackIR is quite useful in many sims.

I can't look at a single monitor anymore, but I would buy a Jetseat before anything else. It is just a must-have item and once you use one, you can never go without again.

Out of curiousity: How pricey are those?

Agreed. Especially because it is less expensive than a decent monitor.

Takes a while to get the TrackIR curves where you want them, but other than that, its much more useful. With triple monitors you still need to use a hatswitch or equivalent to look around at times, particularly up and down... or to check you six.

From personal experience I used Track IR for Flight Sim and triples for Racing, track Ir was not very good in racing and triples not very good in flight sims, head tracking and triples together in flight sims didn't work together for me either.

Flightsim only, a 1440 27 inch monitor and headtracking would be the best option for me.

Now I use Oculus rift for both :)

VR is the only way forward, IMO.

I think AR would be great for those who have home cockpits but I've not had a look to see any in action.
