Had issues with my best buy visa chk out sign up so i found this thread..Broke out the visa and now i just oredered it..Played email tag a few times and a phone call..EFF THAT BS!!

I ordered it from the oculas site, hope the price is not in usd but i did select ship from canada in the options..I sent a msg to oculas support asking same question cause if it is in usd, toldem im gonna cancel

Canada here. Your invoice price should indeed be in CDN$ and the total should be to your door step. That's the way my Rift was and again when I ordered Touch. Games on Oculus Home are also quoted in the currency of the country you live in, once your set up.

Question - how can one tell if this ASW thingy I keep reading about is on or off in DCS?

Well unless you take steps to disable it, it is set to Auto at all times by default.

https://developer.oculus.com/blog/asynchronous-spacewarp/

Auto = If framerates at 90 fps or above, no ASW.

If framerates drop much below 90 fps, ASW kicks in - drops the fps to 45, and interpolates the missing frames to give an end result of 90 fps. Basically predicting where every other frame goes.

You can easily see this if your fps counter is active, your frame rate will read either 90 fps or 45 fps per the above. Also if ASW is active you may notice some graphic anomalies, like on the Spit the gunsight recticle distortion or ghosting of planes as they fly by.

You can disable ASW with the shortcut key combo - CTRL+Numpad 1, or by using the Oculus Tray Tool available over on the Oculus forums.

With it disabled you will see the framerate counter fluctuate normally , and not so much graphic anomalies but if machine is not up to task maybe some stuttering.

And welcome to the VR Club!!

Try the Gazelle in realistic mode..that will bring the nausea back.

Have a sick bag close by...its a blast:pilotfly:

In 2d you would follow a train track for a bit and quickly get bored.

In VR you follow the track for miles..catch up to the life size train(much smaller in 2d)

and look in the bored drivers face as your going by grinning like a cheshire.

What a hoot VR is in DCS.

Also you gotta treat yourself one time with this:

Climb up relatively high in your favorite DCS Aircraft.

Eject out and enjoy the ride back down.

Seriously the Gazelle gives you the rollercoaster effect...sweats...exhilarations...vertigo with a dose of nausea to boot.

Its tremendous in DCS 1.57.

Great ideas guys! Will try the Gazelle then - one of the few modules I haven't tried in VR yet; having too much fun with the Huey and the BlackShark right now. :)

Nice buddy! welcome to the club! What PD are you running. I've been using the Oculus tray tool, and keeping it around 1.5.

Any benefits using OTT instead of DCS built in PD?

I like to use OTT because of how easily it is to set profiles for all of my VR games/sims.

for DCS, I like to have it set with a PD of 1.5, and ASW set to off. OTT is so easy to use, and it's persistent.

Took the plunge and ordered the bundle deal today...VR noob so I am going to need help with this.

Already lots of info here and in the forums...I hope it is a smooth go to get it up and running...big question is..will I like it?!?

It would be great if one you experts would do an FAQ with all the "tips and tricks" for us here somewhere.

Great idea on using the Oculus Tray Tool (OTT); love it. Made me a profile as well. Not using ASW seems to look a lot better without some of the wobbling I've encountered with it being on (Spitfire pro comes to mind).

Also, tried the Gazelle, and with all the visibility the front view provides it indeed does make me motion sick rather quickly. But thanks to VR, helos are a lot easier to hover, fly, and land now.

I'm debating going to best buy and buying the controllers there. Still waiting on Amazon to ship my controllers but I've been happily flying with VR now. Once I settle on the graphics options I find optimal for viewing I'll be happy. Still getting there.

I think i could return the controllers to Amazon whenever they arrive or I could keep them and use the third sensor but my room is kind of small and running a wire for the third sensor is going to be annoying. Not to mention my bed is in the middle of my room so I don't have much space to walk around except in front of my desk and to the sides.

You likely will experience it. Just when you feel it starting to come on , take breaks. Long ones at first. Gradually ease into it.

Eventually it will get better, and better, till it does not bother you at all.

Took me about 3 weeks or so. Still bothers me a little on occasion, but those are few and far between now.

Enjoy that new awesome Rift!!
