Haha no I got the thrust master t flight pedals because I needed some quickly and they were available at microcenter which was a 15 min drive from me. My father used to take lessons so he has the saitek pro flight pedals.

People say the thrust master pedals are too close but they have a small footprint and I don't find them uncomfortable at all. They are working fine for now and man does it make taxing so much easier than using the slider on warthog.

I rarely use them in flight but if I have to make tight turns I definitely use them. Relatively the a-10 is pretty stable as long as you trim it properly, which I finally got the hang of doing after not confusing the trim up and down anymore.

Fri13, good question as far as the head tracking & sound alignment with an external headset. Not sure how'd that would work.

Does developers need to include a "VR speaker mode" to their games so the people who have good speaker systems (5.1 or 7.1 etc) could enjoy using a VR without headphones/earpods?

The same thing is that if someone has a motion platform, the VR cameras as the speakers are required to be tied to that platform same way.

I haven't even used longer times a TrackIR with speakers as it has always been headphones because speakers and TrackIR didn't work "right".

How well would it actually work as the speaker system is not locked to your head position? Like is there a difference when you turn your head to left, and the right speaker starts to emit sound that left speaker did and left speaker does now emit more sound from left, but it is still positioned to your right side?

If the speaker audio system is unlocked to you, so example piston engine sound will always come from the front and firing enemy in 6' from rear, then it would work as your head turning would be natural.

But speaker system that follows the head motion would ruin all as your head direction and speaker position in audio system are changing constantly (left ain't left but can be on right).

These are all good questions and I'm not sure how it would work. I haven't received my rift yet but I'll mess around with sound options when I get it.

As one who has played with both, I prefer my 5.1 surround system. Although headphones, being closer to your ears, do offer a more intimate experience in some cases. The speakers translate positional surround just fine. When a plane or car goes by my left side I know where it is and doppler is correct. What I like about my 800 watt surround is that I can crank it up without blowing an eardrum and the full room sound (for me) is more immersive at high volume. It also allows me to split the sound offer my sound card to my haptic chair setup without running additional software, such as Voicemeter Banana. If the game does 3d sound properly, the sound translates to either setup just fine. My lament is that some games and most movies and television programs don't do surround well, usually just dumping music to the rear channels. TV commercials and some music often do the best job in this regard. Others may descent without prejudice.

I couldn't resist either and bought a set and an additional third sensor yesterday. I took the safe route and ordered a separate USB PCI-e card and everything.

Crossing my fingers and hoping for a speedy delivery ^_^

When and where did you order? Still no updates from Amazon. I only received the $100 gift card but the touch controllers and rift have not shipped.

Please report back when you've tried it. I'm curious to see what settings you have dcs running at. Ugh this sucks Amazon said I would get it today but it never shipped. Unfortunately I'm going on vacation tomorrow. I can at least hope it will be here when I get back. At least my jetseat is arriving today.

Man a holiday then back to your toys...you lucky son of a gun.

Enjoy

I'm worried as I've always had issues getting packages at this apartment complex. 2/3 Amazon packages got marked delivered but I never received them. I just hope the same does not happen for my jetseat because I don't think there is anything Andre can do about that.

Unfortunately after holiday it's right back to work ..unless I know my rift will for sure be out for delivery by the time I come back and then I can take another day to recoup from traveling.

Edit: If you don't have enough USB ports, you will need a fast pcie 3.0 expansion card. It's not recommended to share power between the ports you will use for occulus.

This one is supported and tested by occulus.

For flying (and other seated games), I first ran with the Rift in a 3.0 port and one sensor in a 2.0 port on my last rig with no problem, even though the 2.0 port failed the oculus test. Had no issues. Spreading the usb connections across ports assigned to different controllers on mobo helps avoid maxing out bandwidth. If you order a 3rd sensor, Oculus even ships it with a usb2.0 extension to help avoid this, so 3.0 across the board isn'tmandatory. I also tested the hmd in 3.0 and 2 sensors both in 2.0 and had no issues. My current Gigabyte mobo uses Intel controllers for usb 2 and 3 and AsMedia for 3.1. Both are rock solid. Some controllers on mobos are not as compliant, so the Oculus recommended add in cards are worth considering if your short on or have questionable ports. I run an 8x10 ft roomscale area and tracking on 2 sensors has been rock solid for Touch gaming. A 3rd sensor would. of course help if you want to go larger area, but I feel no need to order a 3rd one at this play size.

On the Oculus site they also have a compatibility checker you can run, it will flag any USB 3.0 ports known to cause issues or anything else that might be suspect.

I did this back in Jan just prior to ordering my Rift, and it flagged my onboard ASMedia 3.0 ports as ones known to cause issues. I have a 2013 MB.

I ordered the recommended Innatek USB 3.0 powered card and installed it first, then hooked up both my sensors and HMD to it. Have never had a single glitch with it.

I'm not even planning to move around much with mine so two sensors will be fine. I did kind of run out of usb ports which is why I got that 3.0 pcie card. I have two more in front but I'll never plug the sensors in there maybe just the headset so I have room for the cable.

Some of my usb 3.0 ports in the back interfere with my wireless mouse depending where I plug it in. I figure now I won't need an external hub so I'll have room for my hotas, rift, and jetseat all plugged in without any hubs.
