I was having a look around in my Rift's audio properties, and noticed it has an "enhancements" tab.

There is a bass boost selection, so I put a checkmark in there and clicked on apply to check it out.

The audio now has a little more bass to it, which I find nice to have.

There is also a Headphone Virtualization and Loudness Equalization selection as well, I just left those unchecked.

So you guys may already be aware of this additional audio selection, but I just discovered it by looking around in there and thought I would share in case there was anyone else that was not aware.

In windows control panel, it is under sound - right click Rift Audio Headphones, then click on Properties. Then click on the Enhancements Tab and you will see them listed there.

If you have not yet, give it a try and see what you think.

Not to be a party pooper, but I also noticed these settings when I first got my Rift a while back, but after a little research I believe they can be responsible for some issues with sound etc in the Rift and as such I disabled them all again.

Can't remember exactly what the issue was, and it may be sorted out now - just a heads-up.

The headphones are the only thing I never really liked about the Rift.

I use a separate set of over-ear headphones and I´m very happy with it.

I am using the Oculus Earbuds ( in ear) accessory.

I am pretty satisfied with the sound myself. I also have a Sennheiser Headset that I used to use with my SoundBlaster software, and found the sound in the Oculus to be just as good for what I do.

That is the Windows offering if you want to have something artificial extra to the original stereo sound.

Those I would leave unchecked as they are like "Office room" or "Rock Cave" kind fake echo extras.

The thing is that these works best with the true surround speaker systems, but not with the headphones. So 7.1 system offer benefit with those as you can really get the audio sound good. But with stereo sound it is just distorting it more and we anyways hear better the directional sounds with clean stereo.

How much better the Oculus earpods are compared to Oculus earphones? The earphones alone sounds and works great and they are very comfortable and easy to use. But in noisy environment they leak sound typically.

But the easiness to use them is just so nice and that you don't even notice they are on ears is huge bonus. Best earphones I have used since very expensive (450€) Sony BT over ear headphones.

Well probably the biggest difference is that being in ear, rather than on ear, the sound is a little more amplified. With your headset on playing a game or whatever, push in on your earphones and you will hear the sound a little more amplified rather than them just resting on your ears. That is probably best way to describe it.

I don't think it really carries better sound than the default earphones, just with the amplification seems like sound clarity is better.

Whether that would be worth the cost for an individual would be hard to say, I personally like them and have kept them on my Rift since getting them a few months ago. It does also seem to help to isolate the noise in my surroundings a little better ( wife's office is in same room and she is on phone a lot), not completely though.

Okay so it is same sounding, just the more isolated and so in little more clearly.

I read that those are excellent earpods like Oculus markets them to be a "couple hundred earpods for fifty".

And i think it might be true as earphones are already so good.

Of course 7.1 is great but not much use at 3 in the morning.

I find the default head phones ok personally I have other's but when demonstrating the oculus ' Which seem's a constant thing ' I find the stock phones quicker for people to get plugged in and go.

'Hear Like in Helmut' option will affect sound. For me I found it became muted.

Check your setting.

Yep I have that unchecked.
