Honestly, why is it? Why can't we have decent download rates? Torrenting is horrendous, and clicking on cancel for HTTP download is usually worse!

I have done dozens of DCS updates, and it is always the same. Currently taken over 15 minutes to download 200k of today's update. No other software I know is as bad as this.

Is there a good reason for this that I am missing?

¿? ... at least on my case, the download speed is about the same as the one I get from Steam for other games.

I didnt time today's update, but I went to make a coffe and when got back the update had already finished.

Don't move to Windows 10 as that will give you a big surprise! :music_whistling:

What do you mean? Win 10 updates rarely take more than a few minutes to download, for me.

And how long does it take to update? And do you retain your settings? And do you retain the IP address? I could go on and on... :)

Irrelevant and pointless comment!

The OP was talking strictly about download speeds.

My IP address doesn't affect anything I do with my sim machine, so I don't care, and other settings are rarely changed (at least the ones I care about).

Ever since the initial Torrent problems were fixed, download rates for DCS updates have usually been very good for me. I can't confirm that there's anything particularly bad about them.

I have seen a few slow ones, but they are rare for me. I frequently see speeds rivaling Steam.

Yes, the download rates are OK. ED's client for downloading is really good. I guess there are a lot of connections to the download servers on patch day also so it is expected to share ED's speed on all. Only ED can give us numbers on how that system is doing on update days, don't think they will.

Yea same for me. My connection isnt fast by todays standard (25/5), but I pretty much max it out every time I update, no matter if its just when the update goes live, or later in the evening or week.

Only time I had very slow speeds, was when we went 2.1 and Normandy was released. And I always use the torrent option.
