First of all, I would like to see the pilot body in the Hog seat. Really adds to immersion when using the Rift.

Also, I think it would be very cool in VR to be able to walk out to the aircraft, across the ramp, do a preflight walk around, and climb in the cockpit. Oh and climb out again after the mission and go counting holes in the airframe.

Pilot body can be activated... just check you control bindings.

Walking around... well old story but ED never comment on this :). For this I am using Arma3 :))). Actually lately I found myself playing only Arma3 :D.

If you eject you can do it, would be nice if they add a first person pilot that you can walk to the plane and whatnot, been hoping for it to happen for years now, alas nothing.

Well disembarking the aircraft would be a great way to end the mission.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

As far as getting out of the aircraft without ejecting, I'm all for it! I'd love to hop out of my Mustang after I limp back home, and see the damage I sustained. Then hop back in. Be cool if ejected pilots were visible when under control in multiplayer.

Maybe they lack the resources for motion-capture. Who knows!

This is about A-10C though...

The pilot body is visible in Su-27 and K-50 but not in the A-10C with this option though. I wish it was possible in the Hog.

As for the walk around, I think at some point ED said it is complicated or something...

+1 to the idea.

My educated guess on why this has never been implemented is, that even though it adds immersion, it doesn't really add to the flying experience directly. I would prefer such a feature, but it would require the aircraft to be visible prior to entering and after leaving the aircraft. For this ED would possibly need to recreate their spawning mechanics.

Beside this, though, I would like to see the ejected pilots synchronized over multiplayer and have the pilots be rescuable via helicopter, or by walking to close perimeter of an allied airfield. Such a mechanic would have actual gameplay value aside from the added immersion.

On the workload, I would argue that any such feature would require substantial efforts on the creation of working first-person mechanics. Also, if one wanted to actually use this for an external preflight that would actually have gameplay impact, ED would need to implement some form of interaction mechanics between a pilot and the external model of an aircraft. Then again, if the function of an external preflight would in this case be purely to add immersion (no actual gameplay function), then I would argue that ED would be adding a feature to DCS World for free, with no gameplay reason or function, which makes only so much sense.

These were just some points off the top of my head to and fro of the creation on such a feature. Not intended for definitive "ED must do this", nor "ED can't/won't do this".

The pilot body should be available for ALL FC3 aircraft since there's nothing to click. I really wish the F-15C had a pilot body.
