Not sure where to place this since there is no official 2.5 thread, but this seems to be a video of the WIP explosions. If this is the case I will say that the effects are coming along very nicely! :thumbup:

BIG improvement over the actual ones!!!:thumbup:

 

Hope during the WiP period they add more fire effect, longer dust disipation time (I would like something like 3 or 5 minutes for some explosions) and especially something I think is KEY to make them look great is CASTING SHADOWS for the smoke column!, that's what gives the sense of height and determines with precision where the explosion happened.

 

Overall going in the right direction imo!:)

I wonder how taxing smoke shadows would be on a system?

Adding more fire wouldn't be very realistic. They do that in Hollywood movies for more spectacular explosions but it just doesn't match up with real life.

Great stuff. Can't wait as well. I'm also very interested in the smoke that follows an explosion. A burning tank's smoke would rise very high. Hope to see what they have in mind for AA explosions as well.

This and regardless of what everyone thinks still should be added/improved, they look hella better then what we have now, so I suggest a little less of the saying “Bachelors’ wives and maidens’ children are well taught.” and a little more enjoying and thank saying for all the effort the devs took to bring this good stuff to us :thumbup:

Yes, and I know some comparisons are made with leading First Person Shooters, but most of those are using very limited units, tiny tiny maps, they can afford more being added to their effects. So while people want to see life like effects, ED needs to make sure we can run it. I know most of you understand that though.
