blurry textures

If your aniso filtering in-game is already maxed out, which it is, then you might try cranking up the relevant options in gfx card panel and see it if they help (you didn't write what card you use, but for Nvidia these would be "anisotropic filtering" and "texture filtering quality").

Please try this:

Go to nVidia control panel

Manage 3D Settings

Top Tab "Global Settings"(This will apply to everything 3D)

If you set up Digital Comabt Simulator: Black Shark (DCS.EXE) in "Program Setting" Top Tab, make sure it says "Global Setting" or change to the values below

There are Four settings for Texture filtering, assign as following:

Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Optimization: OFF

Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias : CLAMP

Texture Filtering - Quality: HIGH QUALITY

Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization: OFF( When you select "High Quality" this is automatically disabled but still make sure set to off)

Happy Simming,

Monnie

Hi thanks for the PM

take a look at my settings for 1.5, see if it helps

my shadows are off here as I turn them off for MP, this is what I use for maximum fps in 1.5

With NV cpl settings like MonnieRock mentioned above, plus in-game aniso 16x and MSAA 4x, the same runway on my PC looks like in attached screenshot, so a little better (I use Mustang's terrain mod, but it shouldn't make a difference in the issue discussed here). Since we both use NV cards, you should be able to get similar results.

That being said, I would suggest just getting used to it, because it might actually get worse when we move to updated 2.5 map. Filtering is already much worse on Nevada map, with its very agressive algorithm of lowering clipmap details on surfaces further from camera and no aniso filtering in the world can fix that. Since updated Caucasus is very likely going to use the same terrain rendering method, I expect similar deterioration of image quality there...

As mentioned above. For best results,

1. Use 16x Anisotropic filtering setting in game.

2. Set in NVidia control panel.

Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Optimization: Off

Texture Filtering - Quality: High Quality

Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization: Off

For modern GPU's this should have close to none performance impact while significanlty improving overall texture filtering quality.

The "Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias" setting works only with OpenGL - which is not DCS case.

Texture Filtering - Quality: High Quality

Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization: Off

How do you get Trilinear Optimization to stay off?

When I click on High Quality, it does not allow to shutoff Trilinear.

I've gone to a Quality setting, and then I can set Trilinear to off. But once I go back to High Quality, it shows a faded out "on" in Trilinear.

High quality disables any other filter optimization.

gracias!

If what you can see is close to screenshoot attached by Art-J then your settings are fine. I'll never be perfect, its just how the 3D graphics work.
