Kirin Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I am really excited for the (somewhat) increased resolution and especially for better lenses. Not so much for DCS though because its VR performance is not at all stellar and the HTC reprojection is not a valid solution at the moment. But there are other applications that will greatly benefit from improved visuals.

Gladman Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Guys close your eyes when ya dream no sli for dcs, non of next gen gpu will be able to push 4k per eye, cause nvidia is not interested in making crds 4x the power in one to to gens, and last big fow will need lenses out of this world and lenses for vr in flight sim are as important as screen as the most important is sharp image in the middle, so the image will loose fidelity or will be lost clarity in the middle, so no golden headset soon. FlyingVamp Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Any of you already own a VR headset? I personally own an HTC Vive Do you happen to know if there are any flight games so far, that YOU had some good experience with? Which you can recommend? TBH I haven't jumped into DCS with VR yet, as I want it to be a flawless experience. Therefore I'm excited about the better resolution Vive Pro. But I currently only own a GTX1080, so maybe I even would have to upgrade to a better GPU, to be able to take advantage of upcoming better resolution optics. My personal best experience so far, is VR with Elite Dangerous. But are there other titles out there which you (guess very picky and quality demanding users) have tried and can recommend? There are a good number of VR pilots here. I also play Elite, but think that DCS really takes VR to another level. No, it's not perfect, partly because the engine is still being optimised. For all that, still looks utterly stunning and IMO is more immersive that Elite (and I'm a triple Elite in ED). 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

It will take several years to be a flawless experience, because it´s a whole different animal of what we have known till now. We should be happy to be alive on this age. Picky guys tend to forget several years ago we were in absolute shock and awe flying with 15" monitors and a fresnel lens in front of it. Actually think your wrong here. There are two new Pimax VR Headsets coming out...one the Pimax 8K will be 1440P that is upconverted to 4k. Will run beautifully on a GTX 1070 or 1080 The other is the Pimax 8K-X which is true 2160P(4K) per eye. They still aren't sure if a GTX 1080Ti can run that smoothly or not but the new Volta cards(GTX 2080s) are due this summer and certainly can run it... Verde Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 DCS in Oculus CV1 is punishing 1080ti now with full load with certain settings card works 100% and even then not always you can get 90FPS. Now take 4k per eye take a calculator and do the math. What kind of performance you need. As leap in high end cards never exceeds 30-50%. I cannot believe that Volta will be 2-3-4 times faster than 1080ti. And i don`t count that ASW 45fps nonsense. When we get 4k headset, 90 fps i will gladly take my words back. I really hope foved rendering is going to be developed soon as it would be the answer for certain problems.

Nah, you just wont need 1.5+ PD on 4k displays. 1.5 is already over 4k so it should be fine. Twitch2DCS - Bring twitch chat into DCS. Verde Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I can get my 1080ti on its knees with Pixel density 1.0. But to be honest i relly hope to see 4k vr headsets with smooth gameplay! I relly enjoy my CV1 for now:)

I relly enjoy my CV1 for now:) Obviously, but to get to 4k you should find settings that work now, at 1.5 PD or greater, and once a 4k device is in your hands, in theory you can just dump the PD to 1.0 and have ~same performance. I have a Vive, besides DCS I am having a blast with il2 BOS etc, looks excellent in VR as does Aces High. My understanding is that Xplane 11 beta is available that has vr. I fly FSX in vr using FlyInside but it crashes occasionally.

Yep I gotta back Los here, IL-2 BOS is excellent in VR, I play both off and online and it's an amazing experience every time, well worth getting if you enjoy WW2 aircraft and old school dogfighting. I've been meaning to try Aces high in VR, might have to re-install it and give it a whack.
