Glad to hear that! I've been using Water set to high for a while, and didn't realize that it could have so much effect on how the water surface looks.

Me neither. I think that is something that ED need to tweak, and I'm sure they will!

Glad to see you've got the water sorted. That being said, looking at your Spitfire screenshot in the other thread, I think your cockpits still look a bit off - too much contrast maybe? Here's how the same pit (mission, altitude and heading matching yours) looks on my PC, with shadows on medium, cockpit global illumination on and gamma 1.8.

 

Colours seem to be a bit more balanced, so you might want to tinker with these settings as well.

Thanks Art-J. I think I've solved that one too. I had Shadows set to Flat. When I changed to Medium, you can see the effect!

I think ED need to work on the graphics for lower quality settings. Seems to be causing quite a bit of a problem.

It’s not a free product unless you stick to the basics. Most of us have invested hundreds of dollars in DCS.

No, I think it looks better. Then again, low sun angles do improve the look drastically.

IDK, looks pretty good on my end and the cockpit doesn't seem overly dark:

And again a video shot at low sun angles where 2.5 admittedly looks very nice. Furthermore no internal shoots which would reveal the dark cockpits.

Yep, I agree. 2.5 looks amazing in low lighting at beginning and of end of day. It’s in the middle of the day with a high sun where things are not so good. There are no cockpit shots as you said, and that is where, in my opinion, 2.5 and DS needs looking at.

Batumi -1200 (Mid day) 01 JUNE 2011 flying North, East, South and West, then zoomed out in perspective.

 

F5E module, same settings as before, all around 7-10K feet, I don't see anything glaringly wrong with the lighting, other than the shadows being blocky, but other than that, there's no dark pit there,

 

You don't get much higher time wise than 12 noon, on the 1st of June, on a clear day..

Still adjusting but already promising results and noticable improvements :)

 

Funny enough, I just checked out my monitor, and it was set to 70/70 for Brightness and contrast, have knocked it back to 50/50 and will see how DCS looks now :smilewink:
