TexasBread Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) On the Nevada map I get around 80-100 fps even on multiplayer and about 120-140 on singleplayer. All settings are maxed out On the new Caucus map I only get 40ish FPS on singleplayer and can't figure it out. My PC set up is: AMD 1950x Threadripper @ 4.2ghz 16gb Ram @3000mhz 2x 1080ti NVME SSD Running game at 1440p CPU usage is only about 10-12 percent. GPU usage on forced single card is 60 percent and only 30-40 if I force SLI. Both sli and single card get the same FPS. Forgot to mention that even with low graphics settings my FPS will still dip into the 50's randomly. Only happens on the Caucus map. ******************EDIT*************** Ok I think I might have solved my problem! I will do more testing next week when I'm actually home. So what I did was: Nvidia control panel - Turned on AA-FXAA AA-mode to Override any application setting AA-setting to 8x (only if you have a high end system) AA-transparency to 4x supersmpling In game: All of my setting are maxed out (again higher system for me) MSAA - Off Deffered shading - On Aero interface - Disabled Vsync - Off After further testing with different areas of the Caucus map, aircraft, and multiplayer I feel safe in saying doing what is listed above 100 percent fixed my problem and my game is now pegged at 70 FPS which is what my FPS limiter is set to and only has minor dips into the low 60's every now again. GPU usage on one of my 1080ti is 75 percent and my CPU usage is 9-12 percent. Edited January 31, 2018 by TexasBread

TexasBread Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 Are you running AF or AA in game? I've tried with AA and MSAA off and on. No noticeable difference in frames.
Goa Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 try delete the whole folder of dcs in user\saved games\ ( prior to saving your input folder so you can re-load joystick profile), it should solve your problem CPU : Intel i7 8700k@5.0ghz cooled by Noctua NH-D15 / Motherboard:Asorck Z370 Taichi / RAM: 32GB GSkill TridentZ @3600mhz / SSD: 500GB Nvme Samsung 970 evo+1 TB Sabrent Nvme M2 / GPU:Asus Strix OC 2080TI / Monitor: LG 34KG950F Ultrawide / Trackir 5 proclip/ VIRPIL CM2 BASE + CM2 GRIP + F148 GRIP + 200M EXTENSION /VKB T-Rudder MKIV rudder /Case: Fractal Design R6 Define black
coach Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Nvidia control panel settings now seem to work in game!!! It never worked for me on both beta and alpha, now I can finally have cheap AA and Deferred Shading :)
Cougar_DK Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) I get 29 fps in the Mirage with High settings. If I switch off "Deferred Shading" i have 80-130 fps. It looks strange without the shading though. And with the DS on I have micro stutters all the time. Edit: Just tried to enable HDR and I'm back to 29FPS in my test mission with one plane ready for take off from Kobuleti Edited January 31, 2018 by Cougar_DK
Cougar_DK Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Ok this is very strange... Both "Disable Aero Interface" and "Vsync" was on. I clicked both off and I'm back to around 100 FPS. Enabling them again no changes, around 100 fps.... Go figure...I will go flying ;)
TexasBread Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 I have had aero and vsync off. I have used Nvidia Inspector to force some profile changes but no luck staying above 60fps like I used to.
TexasBread Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 Ok I think I might have solved my problem! I will do more testing next week when I'm actually home. So what I did was: Nvidia control panel - Turned on AA-FXAA AA-mode to Override any application setting AA-setting to 8x (only if you have a high end system) AA-transparency to 4x supersmpling In game: All of my setting are maxed out (again higher system for me) MSAA - Off Deffered shading - On Aero interface - Disabled Vsync - Off My system is a little weird. It seems to run better when I try to make it work harder since its only ever at 15 percent usage. I was using the "Airborne Intercept" quick mission for the Viggen. At first when I spawned in I would get 35-45 FPS constant. Now I'm getting 70 Constant no matter what is going on in the mission. 70 is currently my FPS limit so it may be higher.
TexasBread Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 Also forgot to mention that I had previously tried just simply turning off MSAA with Deffered Shading on which I heard is causing performance issues if both are on. However, that did not fix my problem originally. The only thing new that I did to fix the fps issues was the Nvidia control panel settings and checking the "disable aero interface" box as listed above.
Flappie Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Thank you! Your new settings worked for me as well. Of course, the ingame texts get a little bit blurry, but at least my fps stopped its rollercoaster. With MSAA on, I had weird fps drops (from ~65 to ~15) when flying low over Batumi and Majkop, even when I deactivated trees and clutters... And in the same time, I had no fps drops flying low over Mineralnye Vody... that was very strange. ---

purpi Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 It seems that the map of the Caucasus needs to be optimized, in Nevada my fps are much higher = 75-95 FPS all in high 1440p 4x msaa. The FPS in the Caucasus are 55-65 and in some places they lower me to 45FPS. :music_whistling: My PC: I7 3770K 4.3Ghz, GPU 1070TI, RAM 16GB, SSD Samsung 250GB. NEEDS OPTIMIZATION :D

Nealius Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I'm seeing some weird behavior on my machine: 1. Leaving Nvidia settings to Application-controlled and DCS MSAA at 2x gives me better performance than Nvidia's MFAA or FXAA. 2. I only have good performance the first time I run a mission after launching DCS. If I do not restart DCS between running missions, I will lose ~10fps even on the same mission, with the same scene, with the same settings.
