While most people are extatic about the new Caucasus map, I would very much like to make some personal changes for myself, but I need some help doing it.

 

The structures have changed, and all earlier ground textures are useless, I know.

 

However, if someone possesses the know-how on how to edit 1 particular texture file: namely the noise file that covers 85% of the map like a green blanket, I would very much like to know.

 

I think I found the file itself, but when I change it with a personal one, the texture turns all black in game, even with the same format/extension This is due to the simple fact that I am a simpelton when it comes to editing files and formats. I have texture files from old, texture models I would very much like to replace it with.

 

Any help cracking this would be greatly appreciated.

Have tried several ways to do this with same results as you so far, I have been trying to replace that horrible concrete skin they use for the fuel points at airfields with something more realistic.

 

I can remove it with an empty.tga file, but other parts of the map (where the same file is also used) go all black.

 

I have tried the same processes as you, replacing like with like, same results every time.

 

Have not given up hope but this does not bode well for anyone wishing to make the kinds of texture changes we had previously, (I loved Highways Villages Mod). Things are very different now so its not going to be easy.

 

If I come up with a solution I will post it here.

For me te noise texture needs more love in the way of more diversity in tones, colours, surface changes, etc.

 

Now is very very even, almost the same colour all the way aroun the map, with no changes in tones. This is specially noticeable in places without farming fields.

 

I hope some of you can do magic to bring the map more variety.

For me te noise texture needs more love in the way of more diversity in tones, colours, surface changes, etc.

 

Now is very very even, almost the same colour all the way aroun the map, with no changes in tones. This is specially noticeable in places without farming fields.

 

I hope some of you can do magic to bring the map more variety.

Wow that looks great! Where can I download that?

 

It's just a summer test noise1 texture I knocked together this evening for trial purposes, now I know what res to use (no more than 4096x4096) and the correct .TIF format with alpha channel for the mountain snow areas.

 

Now if ED could let use use terrain mods with multiplayer IC I might consider continuing the texturing work.

You should do it anyway , ill bet there are more than enough offline players such as myself who would be grateful for the extra immersive detail
